Going to buy one of these off crackberry but they don't do a good job explaining what it does. Can I plug this into the wall with my dead battery I'm not using to charge that one while I use the spare?

Correct. You can also charge the battery and phone at the same time.

For that I'd have to have it plugged into the wall and the other end into my phone?

Yes, I do it all the time. Takes longer however because you are charging two batteries.

Gonna take you off topic a little here, I was looking for a spare battery solution and ended up buying an Anker 2nd Gen Astro3 12000mAh portable battery pack, the thing is my gadget of the year for 2012, charges up to 3 devices simultaneously via USB ports, can't recommend them highly enough especially if you have more than 1 handset to keep powered up. Mine will charge my iPhone, BlackBerry, iPad and best thing is it will outlast my phone and work with whatever my next handset is. Bought it off their Amazon shop in the UK...just a thought.

I own a BlackBerry battery charger since the Z10 beginning last year. And I would definitely recommend any one to get one.

The spare battery could be recharged from any USB connection (wall adaptor, car charger, PC USB port...) [female port].
It could also, at the same time it is charging or not, recharge your device thru an other micro-usb flex cable [male connector. Integrated with the BlackBerry charge pack] .

Personally I now rarely use it to recharge my Z10. I prefer swapping both battery and get back fully loaded within a minute on my Z10, while the other is recharging.
...This way my device is alway ON and MOBILE, rarely attach to a wall or computer (except while sleeping).

When on the go, the battery charger pack is very compact (size of about a thick credit card) so I just carry it in my pocket when I feel I will possibly run out of battery.
