I'm trying to use my 9900 as a proxy but it says "Stopped: WIFI not available" as the status on LocalBar. There are no options to do anything with the app running. I've uninstalled and reinstalled but same thing.

UPDATE: gotta turn off 3G and leave WiFi on for it to grab and internal IP

OK kids, I found a guide on how to do this: How To OTA Install PlayBook Bar Files Using Localbar2

but BASICALLY
1) You need a proxy. I used my BB 9900 with the localbarproxy app installed localbar2. To get it to work as a proxy you have to connect the 9900 to the same WIFI as the BB10 device and I had to turn off my cellular radio (WIFI only). Then I get an internal IP address like 192.168.0.20: 12000
2) You need to sideload barinstall.bar onto your BB10 device and type in that proxy address into the app settings. Make sure your device password is for your BB10 device and NOT your proxy device

3) Download any .bar file onto your BB10 device
4) Choose the .bar file and click Install and it should work

5) You can now sideload .bar files without a PC (but you'll always need your BBOS device and be on the same WIFI network!)

I can even remote install a .bar file over to my PlayBook using this BB10 app (given that my PB is on the same WiFi network of course and dev mode is on to get the IP)!!

Are you sure you are connected to barinstall.com VPN? the address should start with 10.10, not 172.16

After attempting to install the problem bars using Sachibar I found that the installs were throwing errors and failing to install. Localbar isn't accounting for these errors, and instead just aborts the install and reports completion.

Can i use my ipad as proxy, instead of a OS7 BlackBerry, to make this applicatus of whom you speak of work? If so, how would one do such a feat? I'm bedazzled by this technology...

I just wanted to bump up this awesome thread. Btw, i have a Z30 and Z10, and I just tried pushing a bar from the Z30 to the Z10 while both were connected to the same WIFI and it worked perfectly. I had previously read that BARS larger than 6mb were problematic, but i just pushed a 13mb BAR without any problem at all.
Big thanks to Tinyhack for developing this awesome tool and sharing. This tool can be quite useful if you find yourself without a computer and you have two BB10 devices.

All I'm dreaming of , is getting snap to work on my BB10 device ! The snap **** should autoconvert and voilam ,MAKE THE ******* BAR FILES INSTALL , AND WORK ! You are a developer , so I'd bet I won't understand a single **** from your reply to me , unless you magically show me a video or **** or write in plain old ******* school English or **** !

I tried to install bar files on my BB q10 through barinstall, but I faced problems when trying so.

I can't understand where do I get proxy address and/or a proxy port.

can anyone help me to explain thoroughly how do I manage installing bar files with bar install ?

Note: not sure if this is the correct place for this thread. This is about a side loading app, but not for Android side loading (it doesn't have APK conversion, just for installing general BAR files). Please move this thread in case this is not the right place.

Many people have asked me to create an app similar to localbar2, to Install BAR files via Proxy (or to Install/send bar files to another bb10/PlayBook in the same wifi network).

So here is the app:

Tested on Dev Alpha C (10.1) and Z10 (10.2).

This app is FREE. You don't need barinstall.com premium account to use it.

However, if you have barinstall.com premium account, you can use the extra features (uploading BAR files, Install via VPN without proxy, convert APK).

I was going to make two apps (one for LocalBar and one for BarInstall) but maintaining two apps takes more time and both shared quite a lot of code.
