.bar and .apk
Okay so we have the ability to install .apk files directly from the Browser or the File Manager but we are yet to have the ability to do so with .bar files. I think that's silly.
Anyone have any idea as to why? Or if it's coming?
The only reason I can think of is their fear of losing income if people can obtain apps directly from users (even though it's already very possible).

There is also security, but mostly it is due to BlackBerry wanting BlackBerry World to be the main source of apps.
But really... Who is to say they are not going to bring that later on?

Really no reason for a way to install a BAR file is there? If it is a legit BlackBerry App, you use BB World and it installs the app and keeps it up to date. If it is an Andorid App you go to one of the "stores" and they do the same.
While there are reason people may want to directly install a BAR file... very few of those good for the platform.

Bar file converted from apk can run in background e.g viber but direct apk install cannot run and you have to open it to see the message

They may bring it in the future but for now, BARs need to be properly signed and can be run in the work profile of BES. APKs can't be run in the BES profile.
