Can you back up your android apps before installing new OS. I had os 1055 and had a bunch of android apps installed, I had to swtich to loaner phone and none of my android apps came back when I restored from my back up. Now with this new OS I was wondering if it was possible before I lose them all again and have to reinstall them all manually.

They're sideloaded, so no it's not possible.

Well, ok, what ^^^^ guy said isn't fully correct
For the Android apps from BBW, the will backup just fine
For the Android apps you sideload, you will be able to backup the progress, but not the app. You will have to reinstall the app
If you want to restore the progress, backup like normal. After new install, reinstall the android apps FIRST!!!!! Then, run the restore. Assuming that your version of BB10 isn't a few major builds behind, this will not corrupt the runtime and your android app process will still be present
