I keep getting this odd sound on my z10. It seems to correlate to nothing. No alerts show up. I tend to get the sound when browsing.

Is there some way to play all the various alerts in the phone? So is there a way to see what app used the speaker last?

You have the 1950s module installed:

I've had three different Q10s and it's happened on every one. I never found out why it made that sound. It's not very loud and it doesn't happen often enough to bother me, so I just ignore it.

I will plead ignorance. What/where do I find browser notifications. I looked in the setups.

Like the q10 person posted, the sound isn't a big deal. It is just a little embarrassing when someone notices the sound and you have to explain that you don't have a clue.

I was hoping it would go away with the OS update. No such luck. I've been ba-wooping since I got the phone.

    The above is for 10.2.0.

    For 10.2.1:

    Settings/Notifications/Applications/Other Applications/Browser

Is it on specific websites? Maybe the site itself is making sound?

Thanks. I turned off all notifications for the browser.

For the other person that inquired, I don't think I hear them on aby specific webpage.

I just got a ba-woop while watching a video, so it isn't the browser.

What kind of video were you watching?

Does the volume change when you adjust the volume keys?

Now that you know where notifications are. Go through all items and replay the sounds and see if you can find the matching one.

There was no time to change the volume. I was watching Rachel Maddox. Good show, but not ba-woop material.

I have killed every notification for all apps. It seems all used the BlackBerry "energize" notification. Needless to say, a Google search on "BlackBerry energize" sound brings up nothing but irrelevant hits. How can I play the "energize" tone on the phone. This way it can be determined if "energize" equals ba-woop.

Change it to another tone(this will sample play) change it back. (this will sample play)

That works well. I tried every notification and none are the ba-woop. ;-)

Incidentally you can't reach these tones from the file manager. That was how I tried to find them. The "change the tone" scheme you suggested didn't occur to me.

There is also an Android notification directory, but it had no times in it.

    Nope, no Skype.

I just deleted k-9 mail. I figure it has to be something Android since I heard every BlackBerry notification.

    Oh, darn.

Yep, they're considered "protected media", and your interactive user account doesn't have permissions to read them. Kind of annoying, but it's part of the security/content-protection model.

If there is a particular sort of content where that always occurs, I'd love to get a link to try it here.

FWIW, I have the K9email port from BBW and I didn't get any particular notification sounds from it to my knowledge, though I only did minimal testing with it. It does send notifications to the hub. I probably turned off any other notifications in its configuration.

You can also turn off Android notifications on an app-by-app basis by using something to run the Android settings applet thing and going into "Apps" and then the app in question and turning that off. You should be able to use Ghost Commander to launch the settings applet thing.

Well I still get ba-wooped with K-9 mail gone. The only reason a had k-9 mail around was for encryption and plain text. The new rev of bb10 plus a new app made k-9 mail unnecessary.

    Jk

Is it the same tone as the one you use for 'notifications '?
I get random notification tones all the time!
Mine started when I got hub ++ so I've just assumed it was that....

I have played every notification sound I know of.

I'm old school. The only thing I allow to make noise is the phone ringing and the alarm clock.

Every once in a while as I get new electronic devices, there is the issue of the new "beep". You have a phone, camera, scanner, whatever, and they all have the ability to beep. But these manufacturers never talk about the beeps in the manual. Classic case is the low battery warning. You have a new device, but maybe you aren't holding it. You could be driving, and it beeps. Well who beeped? Then it turns out to be the battery warning.

OK. I found it. The ba-woop sound is when you get email with a red exclamation mark. A service I signed up with does that foe every notice.
