As a Q10 user with many useful apps installed, I grew to love the "type to search" - just type in CB and you're there. Type in name of ANY other app, it's found. With Q10SQN100-3/10.3.0.1154 I can't do that any more. Assistant is oblivious to the existence of i.e. Calculator - voice or type search come up with nothing. It offers me Whine or Search Wikipedia, it has fantastic Q&A (powered by Wolfram Alfa, no less!) but it can't take me to any app I'd like it to take me to! Aaargh!

Not sure why it isn't working for you... I'm able to type and load or say "open calculator " and it will work just fine....

Not true....type in cb at the search icon on your home screen and it gives you the option to load the Crackberry app.

On my Q10, it's not coming up with Applications at all. OS version is official P'9883 from Sachesi (Q10SQN100-3/10.3.0.1154)
Just done hard reboot, apps continue to be omitted from the results. Thanks everybody for ensuring me it's not standard behaviour

Hey try opening the assistant and swiping down from the top to reveal the settings

In the settings , you will find "device search settings"
Make sure "applications " is checked

Are we talking about the new BlackBerry Assistant? If so, just say open Calculator and it works. You say" open CrackBerry app" and viola it's there. BlackBerry assistant is amazing.

All options of (yes, the new Assistant) have been checked. I even disabled all but Applications, yet, those are the only ones not showing up - typing or speaking. May I ask you all if you have Voice Search next to Assistant too? Could it be what's causing this bug in my Assistant?

I've upgraded from 10.2.2 to 10.3.0.1154 and everything is nice and dandy except no apps in the search results

I just got a silly idea it may be due to the language settings and set everything to US English (was on British English before), but no luck still

I know it sounds dumb, but move up to the same version as I have.

    10.3.1.362 is miles better.....

I may do exactly that, why not? I've fallen in love (!?) with this OS and can only compare it to the excitement I had when switching from DOS 3.11 to OS/2 so, yeah... will do it.

Speaking of OS changes - iOS8 left me with blankest of all blank faces.

Any ideas on just re installing Assistant? I'll back up soon and do a wipe, then see how it behaves, but would avoid installing dev OS still

What is the function of the little icons down the right side? I can scroll through them but it doesn't seem to have any affect on anything.

Thos icons stand for Contacts, messages, apps, texts, extended search etc. You can enable all or just some, rearange them etc. All awesome, except what I've reported, you too have experienced and what I now know is a known bug which will get fixed. Knowing there are ppl working on having this resolved by the time 10.3.1 is ready for official release gave me peace of mind and I'm fine with waiting

I can launch any app, so I'm not having exactly the same issue. I'm just wondering what those icons on the side are supposed to do. I can scroll through them and they slide out as I scroll through, but they don't do anything other than that. I can't rearrange any of them.

You can - go to Assistant, open its Settings, then go to Device Search Settings and - voila! You can manipulate what aspects of the phone will be included in the search results

Which OS do you have? Also, did you upgrade over 10.2.2 like me or did you run autoloader? Did you do security wipe?
By using Sachesi, I mimicked OTA update to Q10SQN100-3/10.3.0.1154 and a friend of mine who has done the same is having the same issue - you can't quickly find a desired app based on its name. I can type "cal" as much as I wish, Assistant will never offer me Calculator or Calendar, only quick steps the same goes for any other app - I will get everything associated with keyword, first letters of app's name, but not the actual app. One of the contributors to this thread above said it's a known bug. That's good enough for me, as I know it will be fixed once official update is released.

If I type CAL it gives me options to place a call, add calendar event, shows calculator and calendar as options. On 1154, did full wipe and load with autoloader, no restore. Set up as new from there. I was just thinking that when that little row of icons is down the side, I can scroll down them and they slide out, but they don't do anything when I release it.

They don't on our tiny screen Qs perhaps it does scroll down the screen as you move the finger on larger screen devices? Or, they'd scroll if there were more results returned per category, not cramped all on one screen height?

Sorry, not scroll. I can slide finger down the icons and they slide out, so there must be a purpose for them being there and to select them. Definitely like what 10.3 brings and understand some features may not work properly just yet. Now, if I could just get that passport on verizon!!!!!!
