My bold lasts 5 days!! I have set up Auto-On/Off from 23:00(OFF) to 6:00(ON).
I am surprised, in comparison to my Q10, max 19h of power, my Bold seems to be a real athlete...
As alternative I turn into Bedsidemode, all connections off in the night on my Q10...
    Is that method equivalent?
    Can we get it auto?
I read in the forums that Auto On/Off doesn't work on OS10... Why, can we get an alternative?

It doesn't work because with BB10 it's either all the way off or on. Legacy devices never really came off, they always remained with something on and working under the hood. That's why it new when to auto power on after power off. Best alternative is bed side mode for BB10.

I agree, I know that Auto-Off/On is not possible in BB10...
But it would be interesting to set a Bedseide-mode-Off/On in the settings.

True, but it was more "off" on the legacy phones than it is while in "bedside mode" on BB10. It was basically in "standby" mode. I mean, it went as far as showing the carrier splash screen each time it shut down or woke back up. Pulling the juice of a watch battery to keeps its internal timer going, and that's it.

While I do like bedside mode, it would be nice to get the auto off/on thing back. Bedside mode is great for traveling, or if your only phone is the BB. But at home, with a landline that everyone calls you on, just having the phone shut down on its own overnight and come back on in the morning just as you wake up would be a nice option.

You can turn off the radios in Bedside mode. While not the same as putting the OS in standby, it will limit most applications that run in the background from doing very much.

You also have to remember that you never really saw the OS on legacy devices, you only saw the JVM. And just because the JVM was down didn't mean the OS was dormant.

That's what I do... I meant, Auto ON/OFF bedside mode...
Say program my Q10 to turn automatically into Bedside on 23:00 and off Bedside mode at 6:00...
Sort of Auto Bedside mode... instead of on/off...
Independantly if charged or not, automatically into bedsidemode... So I don't need to do it manually... if forgotten to plug into charger and fell asleep earlier, the device automatically turns into bedside mode 23:00

Can't this be programmed in future OS10.3.1???

I'm not sure what the opposition to just plugging in the phone to charge at night is. Am I missing something? If you can get 19 hours on a single charge isn't that good enough? How often are you sleeping where there are no charging capabilities? I would rather start may day with a full charge than a partial charge, even if it could get me through a light use day.

Oh, misunderstood. No reason I can see that can't happen. Even if they just made bedside mode invocable then smart tags, timers or geo fencing could schedule it.

I agree 100%. As someone who relies on my BlackBerry for business I have to make sure I always have plenty of juice, so plugging the device in anytime on not on the move is a must; that includes the end of the day or basically anytime I'm home.

While not an exact substitute for your original request, a different solution already exists: Smart Tags...also called NFC tags.

I was able to turn off all radios, change notification profile to all off, and set an alarm.

That is, in a sense, the same as what you need but a technical solution.

See attached for the parameters of my smart tag setup.

Interesting... And how can I let it automatically start the mode (say airplane mode and silent at 23:00?

I used Auto on/off on BBOS until bedside mode came along. Had a cradle for my 9800 and 9810, drop it in and it changed to beside mode and charged. Now with the Z10 I either plug it in and pull the shade, or Quick settings -> bedside mode and plug it in. I would be nice to just have to put it in a cradle, but with all the other improvements of BBOS (and other platforms) I'm willing to live with it.
