The Passport on sale looks awfully tempting. My one and only killer app on Android is google voice. Anyone uses the android version on GV on any BB running BB10? This is literally ALL I need

Thanks. I know about being able to load android apk files. My questions is since none of these apps was actually designed to be run on a BB, is anyone actually using the GV android app and how the user experience is. Like the ability to set all calls to be handled by GV, if there are any glitches etc.

OP, you could also maybe ask down in the Apps section.

I downloaded it after getting playstore (thanks to cobalt) but haven't gotten it to work. Doesn't even sign in. Any help would be great!

Did you try patching it first?

I thought I didn't have to patch cobalts downloads? What patch would I need to download?

Apps with GP services need to be patched and some still won't work.

This is my reply from another thread.

Use Google voice. Works every single time and it does not reveal your cell phone number.

Create a Google voice account (free), you get your own designated number that you can give out to customers. When they call that number, it forwards to your cell phone and you answer it.

To make a call, go to the site and dial the number you want to call.

You can save the link as an app/shortcut to your phone as you see in my screenshot below.

When you dial the number you want to call, Google voice calls your cell phone and then connects the call to the number you are calling. It does NOT reveal your cell number to them.

Also, you send texts the same way. As you can see from the texts received from some psychotic ******* I was gonna buy a wheel from... he kept texting me daily even after I was no longer interested in buying it from him 😆

Google Voice via the web (through Blackberry browser) works for me.

I've been accessing and using it that way with no issues.

    Glad Luck!

I'm running the Google Voice app (Android) on my BlackBerry Passport. You will need to install Cobalt's Google Play and Whitelist apps. GV does not need to be patched, but needs to be added to the Google+ Whitelist app (add unpatched app to whitelist). This will enable you to sign in and the app will work.

Editing because I figured it out, just posting to help others.

Had to install google play services, and could only get it working with patched google voice.

    Installed
    com.google.android.gsf.login-4.3.3-cobalt / signed in
    cobalt.blackberry.googleid-2.8 / Registered the device
    com.android.vending-6.0.0-cobalt-build2
Download google voice app from the play store but dont install

    Then I installed
    com.google.android.gsf.login-4.4.4
    com.google.android.gms-10.0.84-cobalt-build1
cobalt.googleplus.whitelist-1.0.0.6 / added the google voice apk in downloads

Used the PS_Patcher to patch the google voice apk
Then installed the patched version of google voice and it works.
