Question is there a privacy feature for lock screen notifications included. Ex instead of the actual message it would just say new sms etc.

Yes. That option looks to be available.

Yes in your settings menu do the following:

Setting --> Security and Privacy --> Lock Screen --> Lock Screen Notifications (turn this option off)

This will let you see you have messages and where from but not the content.

Yes, but you cannot tap to open the notification then.

If you want to see the sender as well you can toggle on the 'Show Sender Only' option in the same menu.

Oops sorry that may be 10.3 option. But if you do this and don't have a passcode on your lock screen the notifications can be opened.

I'll check the menu on my 10.2 phone, brb!

Yes you are correct 10.2 does not have the Show Sender Only option so you may not be able to do what you want to do (yet) and may have to wait for 10.3

You will only be able to see what notifications you have, how many and where from. Otherwise they can be opened from lock screen it appears.

You can do it now on 10.2, turn off Lock Screen Notifications in your lock screen privacy settings and they notifications will no longer be active. So they will not show content from notifications on the lock screen.

Well, I like the lock screen notifications because I like to see how many etc that I have I was only curious if there was a privacy feature coming fourth so that I may keep the body private, the subject is fine and nessacary.
