I'm waiting to hear if people are losing their text messages with this update like it happened with the 10.1 update, before I update to 10.2.

I did do a backup last time but my texts never came back.

I'm currently backing up at the moment before I update.

I lost my texts last time too, but I didn't have my phone plugged into power the whole time I was downloading. I'm not sure if that was the problem or not, but I'm going to have mine plugged in right from the start and keep my fingers crossed!

I updated to Official 10.2, and my SMS (text) messages remained intact. My whole "hub" did. That was my experience though. Always backup before updating.

I didn't lose any SMS messages with this update, or any previous ones. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

Same with mine right after the update. Eventually it populates with the contact name and picture.

Guys, give it time to repopulate
I have so many SMS/contacts/phone logs that it takes about 30 minutes to 1 hour to repopulate from a clean install + restore

If you have a backup, it will almost definitely restore after MR update
Probably needed to wipe, and do a few other tinkering steps
I have NEVER lost SMS. That's why I have over 10000+ to boot lol

I DID restore - after the MR. Nothing. There are a hell of a lot of threads on the subject - the missing texts are gone for good and they're not stored on Link (pc) but locally - the MR seemed to delete them, for a great number of people.

As said above, sms is outdated, or somesuch, but it is still important. The NHS, in the UK, uses it as correspondence.

I'm asking if this update will do the same, as in i'll lose the messages - I'd rather that didn't happen again.

I'm just a little apprehensive, that's all ;-)

I did not back up last time, and I list my sms texts. This time I also did not backup, but all sms texts are there after updating. This seems to be the best update amongst the bb10 and PB software update hassles.

The problem resides in the fact that restoring on a messed up system will do jack squat
You will have to wipe and load a new os, then restore

Great news! I updated last night (after a fresh backup) and all my texts are intact. So far I'm not experiencing any issues like some people. Only thing i wish for now is a customizable pull down menu so i can have quick access to airplane mode and brightness settings.

Good to hear, but I wonder why you wouldn't bother backing up this time, after being burned prior?
