understatement of the century. a phone is a phone. a smartphone is a phone, mp3 player, e-mail client, text editor, photo editor, alarm clock, radio, social portal, etc etc etc. you get it.

That's right. All of that and more, but first and foremost, it's a phone! Whether you choose to use it as such, or not.

I'd like to see a remedy for that.

Is someone so desperate for porn that he/she questioned the phone app itself.
I have zero issues with the phone app. In fact I like when the screen takes over no matter what you are doing. That way you will never ever miss important calls.
I like the way the phone app behaves. Too much customizations will make it another android rip off. Lets stick to the standards and dont be too lazy.

who says it has to be first? it's all personal opinion.
it doesn't have to pop-up over everything for you to have to miss the call. The phone can still play a ringtone, still vibrate- it's just a matter of taking over when you were in the middle of swiping something and it turns out you just swiped to decline the call because it pops up without even a warning. Has nothing to do with laziness or porn.... no one can seem to justify their opinion about not having problems with the pop up call screen. funny.
It's either irony or bad purchase decision. Either way, it's called a smartphone, not a mini-PC (r). Should they want the smart but not the phone, they should either get a tablet or not put in a SIM card altogether and rely on WiFi modem.

I agree with OP. It's annoying. Other thing I would like changed is the fact that the keyboard is always loading as default when it thinks it's needed. More often then note I don't need it.

I agree with the OP. And why when you hang up the app has to pop up again? I think after calling, The contact app should automatically close. And when you hang up, the app should automatically close as well.

I agree with the OP. It should be the same as for notifications. Click the pop up at the top to answer. The phone interface could also be improved.
My Z30 is a mobile computing and communication device. I use Web, email, text, notes, media way more than the phone and wish it behaved like the other apps.
I still love BB10 and think it's the best for me.
OMFG!!!!!!! Yes I hate how the call screen pops up:
Especially when I end a call!
- I don't need the call screen to pop up after I end a cam and minimize the app! I'm not ******** to be reminded about the action of specifically and deliberately invoked!
- comes up the same way after the other party ended the call after I've minimized the call app, regardless if I'm at the home screen or another application.
Something I sincerely considered Sony (prior Ericsson then Sony Ericsson) then blackberry to actually get right is the Call app!!
Fraking horrible simply atrocious!
? BlackBerry Z30 ? If it Don't Make Dollars, It don't Make Sense ?

Definitely don't like that it pops back up after you end a call. it is one thing if i have the phone app open and i end the call but if i have closed the active frame then the call ends i don't need it anymore. There is room for improvement there.
While the OP's post wasn't the most articulate, it saddens me to see that even after another poster defined it better people still misunderstand the post. SMH. Read the mfkin post again before bi**in
Oh man.
What really annoys me is when I'm in a phone call and I tap end call and then swipe out to look at the browser or something and then the phone goes back to the phone app to SHOW ME that that call is over.
I just ended the call. I know it's over. You don't have to kick me out of the browser to do that.
Reading comprehension is not a strength in this thread...

Yup

I receive the call and then swipe up to resume what I was doing! Doesn't bother me much :)
Swiped from the First BB10 device :)
Hate it! (not the phone, phone is the best)
I am making a lot of phone calls and while on the phone with customer I like to read the emails and massages related to that phone call but that annoying screen keeps popping up when ringing answering.....
Posted via CB10
Yeah it is annoying, the call screen should take over the app for you to answer decline or reply (like it does already) then when you answer the call, the app you were using returns to the screen for use and a permanent toast notification should appear at the top with hang up button and call info such as contact and call time, by tapping the notification it provide quick access to the main phone app.
Just my thoughts, kinda like when you Skype on an ios device but a lot more useful
Totally agree, the phone app just takes over. Super annoying.
Just show the connected phone icon at the bottom left and let me switch back to the phone when I want.
For me this probably the most annoying feature on BlackBerry 10. Sometimes I wonder if the developers actual use the phones they develop for.

Glad someone brought this up. With the phone being about productivity, the phone-app making its users have to deal with its forced intrusion continually is obviously a waste of time. I dislike this behavior immensely. It has cause hang-ups and wrong extension-dials and other problems as I was about to press the screen for another app and the dang phoneapp pops up. Hanging up on a client etc is so unprofessional and having to redial after a missed extension dial is not good. Please have this changed for the official 10.3 release.

Because when I do that I get every freaking contact I choose in the contacts app to not see.
the point is people can do what they want with their devices. what about phablets? your argument has no validity without explaining how to use those. like i said, it's all a matter of opinion. what's funnier are the people who get offended by the people who don't want to use their smartphones as phones.
Let's see, one or two suggestions on how to implement an alternative from step07 and ? and a bunch of complaints. Not very helpful.
This issue doesn't normally bother me, but yesterday while using maps to keep from getting lost the phone screen kept popping up over my map. ACK!! I don't have a fix either but I Iike the direction step07 is going.
