Thanks. Did you have an SD card installed? Did WA ask for backups? And as the last poster asked, can you send pictures with the Android version? It may depend upon whether the pics are on the device or an SD card.

I read that tip on an Android forum. Sadly, Android WhatsApp (with my experience) cannot extract anything from the device nor from the SD card.

No one seems to have the answer to that. In another thread, it said that for some reason WA Android can't access files on a BlackBerry. Maybe a wipe and/or reinstall of the OS along with WA Android, without ever putting the BlackBerry version of WA on the phone, would work. It's a major pain to do that and it may or may not work.

Please guys stop with the useless replies, Facebook made a decision and is NOT going to change. BlackBerry seems to not care about BB10 OS anymore, so we either end up with a useless paperweight or WE as a community try to extend the life of this awesome devices a few years more.

WE need to prepare for this, right now the only option available is to run the Android Whatsapp version. There are software engineers wondering around this forum faithfuls to BlackBerry and also a great community, we should focus in making the Android version run with all the functionalities the BB version has, sending/receiving stuff, backups, hub integration, light alerts, headless, etc.

I hope it is going to be like the Facebook app which keeps on working even after the "formal" discontinuation.

Runtime is easily high enough version wise that the android version should work for a few years more.

I am back with my Z30 after a brief stint with the Dtek50. I love my Z30 and unfortunately many of my friends don't use BBM and prefer whatsapp. So hopefully the android port will work. My question is - what is the hold up from making it work? Is it the runtime which BlackBerry has updated only to 4.3 (mind blowing that they have not brought up to at least 5.0)

They can't update the run time beyond 4.3 even if they wanted to since now they are selling android phones as well

I don't get what one has to do with the other. Why can't they update the runtime past 4.3 and still continue to sell android devices to those that want android devices? Guess I am slow on the intake.

Not entirely. That law only applies to version 5.0 and up. So BlackBerry can still update us to 4.4

I'm using two what's apps for the moment, the BB10 and android what's app on my classic! All you need to do is download the android what's app and waa Fixer. Saying what's app won't work on BlackBerry devices isn't true, it wil stop working on BlackBerry 10! Full stop

Hey all, after searching, finding and downloading the WhatsApp android, it installed successfully on my BBZ30. The only issue, is my other WhatsApp older version has disappeared, I thought I would be able to add this without it affecting the other. If I uninstall it, will my other app still be there..? My biggest problem, is I didn't email my chats to save them and need to get a few of them back... need to recover them asap..anyone can help me?
