I've noticed my daily daily usage increased tremendously since being on the Z10. (I had a Samsung S3 prior)

I've switched my wife over lets see what hers is like but it is alarming, as if I roam I will be bankrupted here.

Is there any data monitoring service? I can't tell which App is causing this?

Could possibly be because it's a new phone and you'e been on it a lot more. You know, showing it off to people, using the CrackBerry app.... a lot..

I know that when I switched to Android (from Blackberry) a few years ago, I noticed a big jump in data usage. I'm sure that you are probably using it more because it is new, also. With a better browser and "richer" experience and no compressed data, I think Blackberry users are in for quite a surprise in the difference in data used.

Yea, i am afraid of the data spike coming off of compression. O_o

O well it will be a nice new phone and i cannot wait for it. I am on wifi nearly 95% of my day.

I dont have the phone, but what do you think the reason for more data used? No BIS? This is troubling, I am on Sprint and never had to worry before but may be switching to AT&T if Sprint doesnt carry the Z10.BTW love the avatar, Dont know what it is but I think I like it

The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Unfortunately some change always has some negatives. The positive is that no data compression makes for a faster browsing experience. Also a potentially costlier Data plan.

I was on a Samsung Galaxy S3 for 3 months prior to getting my Z10 last Tuesday. I noticed a big difference in my data usage on the S3. Fortunately, Android has an amazing data usage tool that can show you what apps are using data, and can even separate data usage from wifi and your network. On the S3, the apps that consumed the most data was the browser, email (I was surprised with that one), and Rdio (music streaming). Other than that, there were 15-20 apps that all used smaller amounts of data, but added up to a lot. The browser was by far using the most data.

Considering the average size webpage on the internet today is around 1mb, it doesn't take long to gobble up your data plan.

That being said, my Z10 is using just as much data, and even more the past week, because I'm playing with it non-stop.

Very true. Data usage has spiked but I expected it would. Just can't keep the phone down. I've had it since the 5th and today is the last day of my billing cycle for the month. I just checked and in 8 days I've used 1.1 gb. With my 9800 I would probably use around 400mb a month. Ah well, I new this is how things would be. I guess I need to learn to just keep it on wifi while I'm at work and at home. Lol.

Those look very similar to mine, I do about 19mb/day with a 9650/9930 so even if data usages doubles 2gb/month should be plenty !!

Are there any good data monitoring and managing apps available for bb10 yet?

Would actually like to see an official BB app or something that is integrated into the OS

Be careful with social media notifications and such like FB, LinkedIn, twitter, etc. Because these are now integrated into the system and will continually feed in whether the apps are open or not. I turn off notifications to all accounts I don't care to have active in the Hub. This may save some data.

A native data monitoring tool is absolutely essential on any smartphone nowadays. The Telus app does not provide this information for me, and I haven't been able to find a good 3rd party app either.

that's awesome! I like that. I like reading everyone posting here. Informative but sadly I'm expecting to eat a lot. Cellf phone cand insurance companies are all scams and make crazy money. They saw how phones use CRAY data and decided to cash in on it more than before.

im not really seeing an issue, and i have been using my data quite frequently. Since Feb 5 i have only used about 226mb of data, the secret you may ask, just use wifi when its available. Without wifi i would have at least 700mb by now (most from downloading games, apps, music, and wathcing tv shows/youtube videos).

And your carrier loves BlackBerry for marketing a device that resulted in you having this need (I mean this in a good way and not as a criticism) and loves *you* even more for going through with upgrading your data plan.
