I'm a new Rogers home monitoring customer. I've got a live video camera feed that the Rogers Smart Home app renders fine. (android app)

Recorded video does not play back on my device though saying media format is not supported by device.

Is there any quick conversion method that I can use without having to sync and perform on my laptop? Are there any free conversion apps people are facial with?

    Thank you in advance

Mp4 containers work fine. It's what codec is being used that you need to find out.

Video Player will play many. Kalemsoft plays more.

He was talking about using Handbrake on your PC to make the videos playable on your phone

Well I'd guess that because it's a live feed and security video at that, that it has protections or DRM like stuff on it making it so u need the app to view

Might be worth looking into it more, maybe they use an open source code or Industry standard encryption that other 3rd party apps could read?

    Just a thought

Vlc has lots or recode/remux options and streams as well. Might be something there for you. Or maybe screen capture and stream soft on your pc?

OP said, "without having to sync and perform on my laptop", I wasn't sure if the person who said handbrake had an app, or just didn't read the question.

A live transcoder would be nice. Or an app that supported whatever codec you need. Or maybe you can change the codec of the security system. Mp4 is fine however.

Check if Kalemsoft Media Player will play the file. It's native and available in BlackBerry World

I use Handbrake to convert files into MP4, then transfer them to the device. It works with the existing video player. I'll look for a good media player for you.
