For those who are waiting for official confirmation about the working of whatsapp from new year. Here it is. So sad to see this.

Just give it up guys. If WhatsApp means so much then it's time to switch platform. Whatsapp's end-to-end encryption renders previous android versions useless. Nemory won't be able to make a third party client due to fact he won't have access to their encryption keys. Anyone that is clinging on to hope of WhatsApp on bb10 post 2016 are in for a disappointment.

Whoever will use that will be banned temporarily from using WhatsApp and then eventually permanently. It's the same procedure as Snap10/Snap2Chat

Banned from whatsapp..what a hilarious comment.!!!.yes call the CIA. What a joke!

Useless comments. So far right now with apk 2.12.510 whatsapp works perfectly all features

So let's see what happens next year. Same story with Facebook...and working fine although suppose to stop in April.

Why am I banned for using WhatsApp Plus and how do I get unbanned?
WhatsApp Plus is an application that was not developed by WhatsApp, nor is it authorized by WhatsApp. The developers of WhatsApp Plus have no relationship to WhatsApp, and we do not support WhatsApp Plus.[...]
    https://www.whatsapp.com/faq/en/general/105 - January 2015

WhatsApp slaps unofficial app users with permanent ban
The firm is now permanently banning those who use third party apps such as WhatsApp Plus and WhatsAppMD, and who have ignored its previous warnings. This means that, unless you change your SIM card, you will no longer be able to access WhatsApp. Ever. This comes after the firm issued those using WhatsApp Plus with a 24-hour ban. [...]

Not sure if you're calling my comment a joke or not, but if you were then I hope next time you do your research before you call out anyone's knowledge 'useless' and 'hilarious,' because now your comment IS useless and hilarious to laugh at. If not, then I'm sorry for misunderstanding you.

Listen you asked for a fully working all features of whatsapp alternative to current BB10OS version. I did mentioned and offered a SOLUTION to download apk version 2.12.510 which you tried and tested and it worked. Status current issue SOLVED.
I refuse to go any further into your constant comments with regards to end of the world with or without whatsapp. You are determined to keep going in this direction of which nobody knows what will happen . So enjoy your alternative apk version of whatsapp and PLEASE when YOU have a solution to something you can contribute here and post.
By the way I prefer BBM.
    Goodbye!!!

I was saying 2.12.510 works but asking a WhatsApp developer if he knows why 2.16 doesn't work. I even quoted him, you just answered on your own. I didn't ask you. I didn't want you to answer me. Your answer was irrelevant, by the way. You're the one repeating the same crap about 2.12.510. Yes it works, great find! But 2.12.510 won't work by late 2016 and oh no how blasphemous of me to ask a developer if maybe something drastically changed when they were coding 2.16.

Moreover, I saw Nemory's WhatsApp announcement on Inst10. I came here to inform people about the fact that if you will use his or any third party app, you may eventually get permanently banned from connecting to WhatsApp's serves. You ignorantly said my comment was 'hilarious' and a 'joke.' I don't know why you think this thread is some Q&A between you and the rest of us. I wasn't specifically talking to you. Not every post here is asking you for a solution. We're all here to figure out a way to use WhatsApp properly without having to give up on our BB10 phones.

By the way, you're not one to tell me when to post in a thread. Mind your own business, mate. Not everyone posting here has a solution. We're all discussing news and possibilities in this read. Don't flatter yourself honey, your so called solution turns obsolete in Q4, which is literally even before WhatsApp for BB10 stops.

Mods, I'll gladly take my warning point(s). Thanks.

If you read my post from earlier in this thread, it explains why in detail.

Thanks to @dkonigsberg_wa explanation, I was able to find a way to send images (and possibly any media file) with WhatsApp for Android.

I'll try to bake a free app with the hack in the upcoming days/weeks.

Why not use the BlackBerry native app? The Android app will stop working the same day, so what's the point?

Why do you say the Android app will stop working? The workarounds above are done on the latest version of Android Whatsapp, not the 2.x.x version that will be discontinued.

The WhatsApp developer said that both the Android version and native version of the app will be blocked for BB10 devices on Dec 31.

So why not just stick to the native version until then. Why fuss with the Android app?

The WhatsApp team says that they will no longer support bb10 and Android 2.2. We have android runtime 4.2. Isn't it. We are using bb10 native app. We are just exploring.

Not sure why you're arguing this. The developer himself said all versions will be blocked from BB10 devices (Android and native). Period. The end.
