What about battery on Android WA? Once I've installed Skype on my wife's Z10 and it was draining battery like crazy. Skype for Android. So this is my biggest concern.

Is it already confirmed that the BlackBerry10 will actually stop working?
Could be possible that it just means they stop their support such as updates, while the app keeps on working?

Is there anybody facing the issue of the contacts not al showing on android whatsapp?
Posted via CB10
Yes. With Android facebook, I receive the notifications also. My facebook version is 28.

No. The app wont work because Whatsapp shut down the access coming from Blackberry10 devices. That's why many people have tried Android Whatsapp to see if it is working properly.

I dont think it drains battery that much, given that the app is running in the background

Skype is notoriously draining, whatever version it is.
I wonder why BlackBerry can't get them to make the Amazon Appstore version of What's App to be viewable / downloadable on bbs
RedBerry Passport /10.3.2.2876 / Telus
Can you share pictures directly through the android version on a BB10 device in the way that you can through the BlackBerry version, or do you have to go into WA and attach the picture that way?
Also, does the app need to be open in an active frame to deliver notifications, or does it run in the background like the BlackBerry version?
Thanks

The newest working Android facebook is 29-0-0-23-13 if I'm not mistaken. I'm using it now with the website version, working like a champ! Not a fan of third party apps...as soon as I sign in those third party apps I found that I 'liked' their page automatically without my permission...so...

While it is loading backups..you press the back button. Once it escapes from that page, it will be fine.

Hey can you share the android version of facebook that you are using? I tried the latest and it's not letting me log in.. I enter my username and pass it spins for like 1 min and then it just reloads the login page..

no one really knows for sure, so I honestly don't understand people's panic in here. Even if, there might be alternatives and one could be the android versions of WA. But until this is going to happen (or not) we still have like 8 months to go. So yea, aslong I'll just enjoy BB's native WA together with its fully integrated hub functions.

Did anyone try Whatsapp Web while running the Android version on BB10?
I downloaded from google play store directly without any patching...what you do is when the app says loading backup and then you press the back button. It will go back and continue the next step...

For testing installed whatsapp on my 3 year old Z10 and works great actually faster than regular whatsapp! Yes no HUB integration but receive notices via notification symbol in HUB

The problem is that support for that version will also be ending at the end of 2016. Note the system requirement (Android 2.1). Support for Android 2.1 and 2.2 is being terminated along with support for BB10, Win7.1, Nokia S40, and Nokia Symbian S60.
FecesBook claims that these older operating systems "dont offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our apps features in the future." I suspect that at least some of those "features" have more to do with datamining than with anything remotely useful to users.

Not correct.
The whatsapp android version I installed is the latest android whatsapp version. BB10 OS has the jellybean android runtime 4.3 which is currently in use in more than 1/3 of Android devices . So no issues and works great!

I was thinking about that as well. But I also have to wonder how long using any apps from Amazon will be an option. I mean, the one phone they produced was a commercial flop. How long will they go on supporting the combined handful of users who use the FirePhone or BB10?
It's possible they could keep it going for a very long time just because of the information that they're gathering which is useful for marketing purposes. But I wouldn't count on it. It wouldn't surprise me if the Amazon Appstore shut down this afternoon. But it also wouldn't surprise me if it were still up and running five years from now. It depends on whether the investment they make in making Android apps work on phones without Google Play is being offset by better merchandise sales.
Amazon's investment in porting apps over to the one phone they made actually puts BBRY to shame. Had BBRY done the same early on when iPhone and Android started taking away market share, the company might not be swirling the drain like it is now. In particular, think BBRY should have reached out to literally every bank, brokerage house, credit union, and retailer that had an Android app, and offered to port those apps to BB10, at no charge and with indemnification. BB10 itself is superior to Android and on a par with iOS. The app gap is and has always been the issue that BBRY has failed to address.
I have never been as pessimistic about BBRY and BB10 as I am now. I don't believe a word that John Chen says about his commitment to BB10. The company doesn't even seem to care that the browser doesn't work correctly on an increasing number of sites. More and more sites just outright crash it, and many more don't render correctly. Asking BBRY to port every existing Android app to BB10 might be a bit much to ask (even thought it's probably the only thing that could save BB10 at this point). But is it too much to ask that they keep the damned browser current?

Forget Amazon no need to worry about them. Downloaded whatsapp directly from whatsapp RE android version. Or if you want can also try apk sites like 1mobile etc..

I understand that. But the version WhatsApp offers requires 2.1. They're ending support for 2.1, so it stands to reason that that app will be withdrawn at the end of the year.
In other words, I understand that the BB10 ART provides a 4.3 platform. But if the app itself is withdrawn, then the version emulated by ART becomes a moot issue.
If WA replaces the 2.1 version it with a 4.3 version, then yes, all would seem to be well and good. But we don't know whether that will happen. Or perhaps you do know and I don't, in which case please enlighten me.
By the way, I frankly couldn't give a rat's *** about WhatApp were it not for the fact that my granddaughters use it to contact me. That is the one and only reason I have it installed. But it's a pretty big reason.
Richard
What I have running on 3 year old Z10 is not an emulated app. Downloaded latest version of whatsapp for Android. It works and will continue to work. As ART have is 4.3 and whatsapp will stop support for Android 2.1
So no issues. Now the day that whatsapp stops support for 4.3 will be years from now. As more 1/3 of Android s are running 4.3. Called jellybean.
So no issues will continue to have whatsapp on your BB10 devices.
