Why do I get the sneaky suspicion that this upcoming "Android" powered BlackBerry device is nothing more than a guinea pig? I can't see BlackBerry going "all in" with Android unless they can prove its return on investment. Maybe they should make a Windows phone too while they're at it.

If they made a Windows phone they would be fools, Android isn't in Market share competition with BB10, Windows Phone is

Kind of like how my wife is testing other relationships but I can't see her going "all in" unless she finds a better guy than me so why worry?

It makes sense that if the device is successful then they will make more Android powered devices, however BlackBerry 10 for corporate use is still a part of BlackBerry's plans according to everything that has come out from the company.

BlackBerry would sell chocolate covered rat turds if they could make a profit.

Every BlackBerry device since the roll out of the Z10 has been a guinea pig. Every one has been different, and every one had a "let's see if this sticks" question mark on it.

So yes,.. this will indeed also have a huge "let's see if this sticks" question mark on its back.

This could be a good thing. They would be testing the waters to see Who will buy the device and if it makes a change.

John Chen is running a test to see if he can sell smartphones without the expense of having to develop and maintain BB10.

I disagree, BlackBerry 10 paired with BES will always be a better solution unless BlackBerry suddenly have the resources to rewrite Android from the bottom up. It's more likely John Chen is giving corporations the option to stay with BlackBerry for their server and client needs. I really wouldn't discount a Windows device if 10 takes off and Microsoft don't take Apple's isolationist philosophy.
