As you all know that #BlackBerry10 has #Android 4.XX (jelly bean) runtime. Now a days I am having trouble with some apps thay thy don't support jelly bean. I assume in future 70% apps will stop working on jelly bean and google might end 4.XX OS as it did same with all bellow OS's. Is there any hope of using android run time? Will #BlackBerry push marshmallow runtime kind of update in #BlackBerry10 ?

About as likely as native app development coming back from the dead.

But who needs apps, BB10 is supposed to be a drop-in replacement for a RIM 950...

yes and no. Things changed since BB now produces real android devices. Once they did that it meant no more updates to the runtime.

The Android operating system is open source, but Google Play Services that run on top of Android are not. To comply with the terms for Google Play, manufacturers cannot release other Android variants, which to some respect the runtime is although it isn't the core operating system on BB10.

Google might discontinue android 4.XX. In this case no future apps will be created. And these days as well there are lots of android apps that so not install on android 4.XX. So I hope if really I want to use #BlackBerry I will have no #FaceBook no #WhatsApp nothing social. @Twitter is also not working on 4.XX. I will buy #BlackBerry Mercury or whatever its name will be. Don't want to use android but I forced to. I think one day every #BlackBerry10 user will switch to #iOs or #Android. As they are already having alternates in their pockets.

BB accepted the truth of that more than 2 years ago, when they made plans to license Android and laid off the BB10 team.

And it's already been happening for a good while. Around half of the BB10 phones produced are already "retired" and no longer active. As more and more apps stop working, that percentage will only increase.

You have to ask yourself why you bought the bb10? If it still does what you bought it for then you shouldn't be upset that it can't do everything that's new

It would be easier and less expensive to just give people discounts towards a new phone. If you want Android compatibility the easiest way is to buy an Android phone.

It would have been just a big of a failure. No Android phone has been a success in the western world without Google Play store installed on it.
