Is it just me or does it seem like fewer android apps are working on BB10 lately?

Does this signify anything? I was expecting better support as time went on, not less.

Android Runtime is still stuck on v4.3.

A growing number of apps now require either v4.4 or v5.

More and more apps are making use of Google Play Services, which BlackBerry does not natively support.

Hence BlackBerry's move to making Android devices.

Do you mean you are trying new or updated apps and they no longer work, when they once used to? Or the same app that once worked is no longer working?

I haven't tried any new apps lately, but the apk's that ive been using for a while, are still working..

Well.. I dunno , I suppose its a risk. Theres always the chance that the updated version will not work as well. Its not difficult to back up the older version of the apk, and just reinstall that version if the newer one isn't working...

I always keep my apks after installing them. If there is ever a problem, I can go back.

Apkmirror is an excellent archive of new and old versions too.

If the choice becomes between licensing Google play services or paying for the full android OS, I hope they opt for Google play services running on BB10. Even if that means selling the phones at breakeven.

Google play is required by more apps every day. Either BlackBerry develops a google play services clone to redirect the traffic to.their own services or they need to come up with an ios emulator.

My understanding is that any kind of work around for Google play services us illegal and would not be feasible legally. Unfortunately Google has no incentive to give BB10 life support. Especially as doing so would make BB10 a viable competitor.

I keep hoping that there will be a revenue sharing agreement that will allow Google play on bb10.
