Android apps not starting on BB Classic

Asked: Apr 04 2021 | 5:26 pm EDT 3332 Views 35 Answers

Hello.

So on Friday my BB Classic shut down because I forget to charge it. Once I charged it back on, all android apps that were running ok wont open no more.
It shows the green line charging but once it finishes it crashes. Now I'm unable to open those apps.

I've done multiple reboots and hard resets but nothing works.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks.

Turn the phone off.

Turn it back on, and don't touch it for 20 minutes.

Then try again.

I tried twice and a hard reset also, but still no results.

Is still crashing when loading the green line.

Just plug the phone and transfer them or should I use the chrome extension?
Chrome extension, for sure, and you can use that over Wi-Fi too.

Unzip the download first. There are two bar files in it.

My bad. I forgot to add the .7z extension and just made the correction. Just add it yourself.

and check android apps version. Essentially, it should be not high than 4.1

@conite: May I ask what the content of these two *.bar files is, or what do these two do?

I had the same issue with the green bar at the start of some Android Apps on my Q20, but a few minutes waiting fixed that issue always.

It's an attempt to fix a corrupt android runtime in the OS.

I remember there was an Android Runtime Update quite a while ago in the BB World - is this the *bar file Conite provided?

No, that update was just for a specific OS (not the one you're on). Installing it on a different OS can create the issue you are having right now.

I did not create the thread - my Q20 might run on a different OS version :-)

But anyway - thank you for the explanation!

I recently resolved the "Android apps not starting"/"green line" problem on my Classic, by following conite's post #6 above.

While the Android apps themselves are now are running again on my Classic, I cannot open their notifications in the Hub: The Android apps' notifications do show up in the Hub, but nothing happens when I click on them. Has anybody experienced the same? Any idea how to fix this?

Reboot and wait 20 mi utes before using the device. If it still doesn't work, then only a factory reset will.

Do you maybe have these files for the Q10 too?

BTW: PlayBook Manager - Chrome extension is blocked by Google.
It says, that this extension is against the chrom rools.
Or, is it just because of my OS Win 7.?

Nope. It's because of the more recent Chrome version. It's that way now regardless of what you are running it on.

You rebooted the phone right after installing, of course? And you gave the phone about 15 minutes upon first boot to give it time to initialize?

Yes, I did so. The only app, which is running, is the native browser..

Well then, only a security wipe or an autoloader will fix it. There is nothing else to try.

Yes. I believe they give you a discount on the second purchase.

And backwards, from Classic to Q10 ?

Respectivally:
Can I "mix" - as long the devices are running 3216 ?

Yes you can, provided you have the app on both phones.
