Is anyone still using that?
Yes ... what is your point? Do you want us to stop using what we are happy using and buy a DTEK instead? Dream on ;)
No, I mean now that we have access to the Google Play Store itself we don't have to settle for a small subset of older apps.
And what if I dont want to load play services on my phone? They are the number one cause of battery draining on android and number one reason that android phones need more power.
Google, no thank you!

You don't have to.
Most apps still don't need Google Play Services.
Plus Android apps don't run in the background on BB10.
And incidentally, Google Services don't use much battery on Android.
That Amazon App Store app updates all the time. It updated for me three times in the last two weeks. Yet nothing changes.

No update here on my passport but it showed up on the classic. No changes perceived.

With their old free app of the day program, I got many paid apps for free, whereas I would need to pay for them in Play Store.

I have one question in my mind
I think I'm here at right place
Are amazon apps modified for bb10 compatibility (other than apps which use play service).
I know I can run same app from play store and amazon app. But will there be any benefit in terms of performance if I install app from amazon?

No, they are not modified. A handful have Google Play Services dependencies stripped out though.
OP, the hub on my phones show when the Amazon Appstore has an update. Is that not showing for you?
Newer isn't always better (you already know this). Some of the latest versions of apps loaded via Snap, Cobalt etc don't work properly (such as Duolingo and the latest version of Kindle for Android).
The apps on Amazon are stable and work.
I still have a few apps through Amazon. One was a game I purchased a while ago. Most apps are very old though, and haven't been updated in a long time. Several apps I originally got through Amazon have since been replaced with newer versions on the Play Store.
Can't say I have problems with the Play Store version of Kindle. That works fine on my Z10 and it gets updated more often than the Amazon Store version.
However, most media apps like Hulu and The CW tend to stay fairly current on Amazon.
Of course, there is the rare app that still outright blocks BlackBerry phones through Amazon - like Netflix.

Didn't even know Amazon still updated it lol. The app isn't even advertised by them anymore as they moved most folks to Underground. Only Android tablets and I guess BB10 are using it, and those who refuse to move to Underground I suppose. - https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custo...UvbUpU12649631 They went from an update in July to an update on Oct 27.
Too bad that they abandoned that method. I'm not fond of their new tracking procedure so that you can have FREE (with monitoring strings) apps.
Yeah I really am not into the way Amazon is doing things... but it people go for it.
One of my kids friends got a Motorola phone cheap on Amazon... but it has ads built in. Save $50 but get force feed Amazon apps... no thanks.
Oh, that's the Kindle "Special Offers" concept carried over to a phone. You get a cheaper Kindle if they can deliver an ad when you first turn it on. In the Kindle's case, the ad is generally for a book. It does not pop up during the reading experience. Not sure what they do on the phone.
True, I've only been using Underground especially since it lets you access all things Amazon too. I get apps from both Google Play Store and Underground. I'm pretty good to go on my BB10 OS.
