I have a 9930 still. I bought the Q10 about a year ago, and really liked it, but learned quickly my company won't support BB10 (old BES was incompatible with new devices).

Well, they're pulling the plug on BES altogether. Interestingly, they extended the deadline so folks could get Iphone 6. It still doesn't have a keyboard! They have Airwatch MDM, so I can't rely on activesync

    I have the following choices
get an Iphone or Android, maybe bluetooth keyboard (or a brick looking Andriod w/ keyboard)
    -- no one-hand operation.. bulky
keep the blackberry (I am actually awaiting for the Q20 to come out, looks like the trackpad is back, which was the only thing I missed in the Q10)
    --need company email.

I thought of using webmail, as I rarely use mail.. but I still use it occasionally enough.
I really need the calendar to sync up.
I could use my outlook to forward "important" mail. I really don't like this solution. Also, requires for outlook to "always be up"

I could also use my kindle for work related email only (Airwatch supports Kindle). Problem is, I never take the kindle with me, cause it's bulky, and battery life sucks on it. Might as well take the laptop.

Any other suggestions? I really don't want a non-BB phone. My company doesn't pay for my phone anyway, but I'd like to stay "connected" like everybody else, esp when I really need it.

Someone in the thread i linked above claimed they had it worked around for Airwatch. I am going to reach out to them as well.

Just read that thread, I am in the same situation. I doubt that just putting in the exchange server info will work after registering. If it does then air watch is more of a pos than I already knew it was.

    I'll give it a shot.

Since I have a good feeling that it won't work here is what I do to get by.

Use Outlook Web mobile for android, allows easy access to owm.

Use gsyncit for Outlook to sync calendar to Gmail. The only downside to this is that your outlook has to be running to add new appointments.

    Works pretty good for me.

So somehow it's working for me. I enrolled in air watch since I had an add device at some point on it. Then I manually entered eas server settings for the aw proxy, and then it started working. Amazing

Can you elaborate? How do you add device? Where do you get server info?

Owm is an apk so yes you can install.

I had my it department set me up for android device. I loaded the air watch client, put in server information provided by Dept, found some unpublished information on the actual air watch email proxy, and put it in. I'm guessing that if I had used an actual android device I could have found the server information there.

    So you sideloaded air watch?
Do you still need the google sync tool?

It is, however my company said they didn't want to create a profile for BlackBerry since I was the only user. Lazy......

Somehow I'm piggybacking off of the existing ios and android setups.

They way I read the link is that it doesn't require a BES to support BlackBerry 10 devices, but rather it can interoperable with a BES of you have one to provide you a single plane of glass.

Specifically this line leads me to believe a BES isn't needed:
"Users can enroll BlackBerry devices without administrator interaction by navigating to the URL, and entering the specified Group ID and credentials. Then, users are authenticated and AirWatch pushes user-specific profiles and apps to the device. Email auto-discovery is supported for BlackBerry 10."

    I could be wrong though.

I stand corrected. Today the Airwatch app still needs a BES connection in the back end. It was announced in May that this was changing, but it's unclear when the new APIs would materialize:
    http://blogs.air-watch.com/2014/05/b.../#.VBT_t39MXZs

    It's possible these APIs are
what BlackBerry means by the system integrity and credential manager on the following road map:

Either way, it's funny because I'm being proxied through air watch as if I'm an android phone to eas. Except there are no policies being forced on my phone. I wonder how long it will last until I'm caught. Lol

I may get a Q10 from ebay and play around. Last time I got something from Verizon I ended up paying around $200 in activation and de-activation fees.

I did see the new API stuff they came out with in May, but I doubt Airwatch and the like took advantage of it yet.

    Hi!

I'm very interested in how you managed to sync your phone!

I am in the same situation as you and oddly enough, I was able to do the exact same thing that you did with my Z10. (used the Airwatch app from BB10, enrolled the phone, manually entered the active sync info) and it worked!

But i am not able to reproduce it on my new Z30. Each time I try to enroll my z30, it says that my administrator blocked my enrolment.

When did you enroll your device? Are you able to reproduce it? What are the steps you did?

You might have reached the max number of devices. My company has a maximum of 2 per person. Try using the self service portal and delete any extra phones.

I'm currently trying to see if I can get attachments since the add policy blocks them. I'm going to try the ios profile tomorrow when one of the iPhone guys is working.

Hmmm interesting. Cause I do have two devices enrolled.

And I noticed also that on the Z10, Airwatch isn't able to enforce the policies

How do you access the self service console? I don't think I have access to it.

I was able to access the console using https://aw.xxx.ca

But the weird thing is that I don't have any device enrolled! It actually ask me, as I log in, if I want to register a device. If I say yes, I get an error message.

That being said, I am still getting emails on my Z10. And my android device has been removed since I haven't changed the password for a while.

So I doesn't seem like it's the two device limit. I'll try to enroll my android device and see what happens

Well officially, I don't have any device enrolled! That's probably why I don't see any device. If I enroll my Samsung tablet, it's probably gonna show up.

But i am wondering how my Z10 is still synced

My company uses this air watch on all company phones but I was under the impression this was for pushing profiles and setups to the phone, ie(phone has to have lock, when we switched email from in house server to outlook365, company app pushed to phone) . I also use email on my personal z-10 using active sync and no air watch at all on this device.
