So I also tried the update one last time and it didn't work either. I think I'll stay on 10.2.1 since I was really quite happy with the OS anyway. It's a shame the new update doesn't work but until there's another update I'll have to steer clear to have a working phone.

Im having the same problem. I downloaded the new update and now there is no signal, no charging, and no camera usage. The battery is dead now, so its connected right now to my laptop. How did you do the clean downgrade using link?

I used the autoloader for 10.2.1. The file name is Q10_10.2.01.3253_SQN100-1-2-3-4-5.exe I don't have the link to hand I'm afraid but I'm sure it'll be easy to find.

That's no longer possible, as Link now only offers 10.3.1. You'll have to use an autoloader.

I tried a couple of different 10.3.1 versions too and had no luck. I do hope blackberry acknowledge that this is happening to people and roll out an update to fix it. Sucks that we have to stay a version behind to have a functioning phone.

For anyone with this problem and needing to downgrade here's the steps I did:

    1. Take out your battery and sim card

    2. Download the 10.2.1 autoloader for the q10 from the link above

    3. Run the autoloader and connect the phone when the command prompt is sitting at saying bootrom

    4. Leave it to flash

    5. Once it's flashed it'll restart then show a battery icon with a line through it. You can now re-insert the battery and it will eventually boot up.

With a dead battery in the phone this doesn't seem to work but with the battery out it works. If you have a drained battery from the update and are going crazy hopefully that'll sort you out back onto 10.2.1

    Hey,

    1. This thread is a lifesaver, or at least a phonesaver. I have been struggling with this issue since yesterday and am not very tech savvy, so this very helpful.

    2. Can someone post the link to the autoloader for the 10.2.1? I checked the bitcasa site and downloaded it but its not a '.exe' file, its a '.7z' file and its prompting me for a special application to run it.

    Thanks so much.

You'll need to download a free program called 7zip. The .7z is a compressed file so once you've installed 7zip you'll be able to open it and extract the autoloader!

How to locate, download, and unpack the autloader:

    Go here.

    Go to 10.2.1.

    Go to OS + Radio

Go to 10.2.1.3442 - This was the "official" Rogers release, anyway ... yours may be slightly different, depending on location.

Select the appropriate file for your phone - it looks like only Z10 owners have be be careful here, since there are 3 versions.

    - You will end up at a black page. Press the "Download" button on the top right hand corner.

After the file has downloaded, you will need to use a utility called 7zip to unpack the file, which will then give you the autoloader.

    To flash your phone:

Start the autoloader, by double clicking on the .exe.

Connect your phone to your PC via USB cable.

Long-press the power (10 or more seconds) key so that phone completely resets.

    - You will know it is successful if your phone's message light turns solid green.
    - You will also see progress in the Command window opened by the autoloader.

For those with a dead battery, it may be possible to resurrect the dead phone by removing the battery, connecting the USB cable, then either pressing the power button, or long-pressing the power button, to start the flash procedure.

Note, for phones on which 10.3.1 doesn't work, using the autoloader for 10.3.1 does not appear to make a difference. You'll likely have to flash back to 10.2.1 until Blackberry addresses the issue with an OS release that works on our phones.

    Best of luck!

** Update ** You may want to disable Automatic Software Update as soon as you boot into 10.2.1, to prevent the phone from auto-updating to 10.3.1 ... at least until a fixed version is released.

What I did with several BB10 devices when having this type of problems:

    1. Remove your battery
    2. Connect to genuine *wall* charger *not* USB
    3. Wait until you see a no battery sign
    4. Unplug
    5. Wait a pair of minutes
    6. Put your battery back in place and plug the power back
    7. Let it boot (may take a while don't interupt)
    8. Once booted and asking for PIN wait again a pair of minutes
    9. Long press power button and choose turn off
    10. Keep it off and charging for at least 30 minutes

Worse a try b4 autoloader or heavy measures IMHO.
P.S: typing this facing the Caribbean Sea, may have slight approximations in the terms... no charger on the beach !

My reading of the problem is that the device is drained by the update process for whatever reason. Remember USB power is generally barely able to offer low usage charge equivalent.
    My 2cts, hope it helps.

Thanks for that tip! In my experience, the 10.3.1 (applied to SQN100-1) prevented the phone from charging at all. But your idea is worth a try.

thanks for the tips on how to do this. But yesterday I decided to give up blackberry once and for all and switch to iphone. My Q10 was on the charger over night and kept going on that vicious cycle of red battery icon and the blackberry signal. Finally when I connected it to laptop there was a blackberry error. So I had to take it to a technicial to have it downgraded. (Im not very technical so I paid someone to do this) After having it downgraded back to 10.2 I decided that was my last string for blackberry and sold it to someone who will probably have better luck with it than me. Ive been with blackberry for over 11 years now as my corporate phone on and off, but after being one of the unlucky ones who has had multiple problems with their blackberry, I decided to throw in the towel. Who knows maybe I will come back and get the classis should I not like using the iphone as my corporate phone now.

Hi to all, after experiencing same issues like all of ya (radio off, emergency calls only, battery wont charge, camera wont start....) I finally succeeded to downgrade with proper and working autoloader. This will of course erase all personal data but if you have backup, will be easy peasy lemon squeezy...

https :// mega. co. nz / #!ldFxlJZZ!2pFwK87YqRyknFL1On20pPYuKp5WPJJUWnb4ZMx uvA4 this is autoloader for Q10 and complete tread for this you can find on:
    http :// crackberry . com / leaked-os-10213175-all-blackberry-10-devices

Remove spaces in the links (can't post links...)
Download, unpack, run and voila... 10.2.1.3175 is up and running like charm.

The problem is... and it is big, they pushed the software update without really testing it... not??

I have a Playbook, that is no longer udated... My passport is unsable as a phone since it does not recognize the SIM/faulty Radios after the update/ and keeps rebooting every 5-6 min... works only in Airplane mode with activated Wi-Fi... and my Q is double-typing... Well... I am a fan, I am "still" living with both.

As i worked for BlackBerry in 2013 i exactly know how this process works (im also developer but not for OS's). This is hmm.... exception and major issue that BB push this kind of update untested. Personally i've lost 18hrs (downloads, testing, upgrading, downgrading...etc) i can only imagine the proportion of this issue in Corporations and business users.

Buddy, now you know why is Lada Niva SUV same since ages... When something is good why da f*** you change it.
