an attempt to view and project a Webinar with my Z30 and the standard browser failed miserably.

connecting to adobeconnect.com threw an error: adobe connect requires flash version 11.2. download now.

    what's the solution?

Bb10 use full flash, not flash lite for mobile devices which is what Adobe stop supporting.

If BB10 uses full flash how do I install the latest version?

    I'm running OS10.2
    1.2977 on Verizon.

We purchased a Miracast unit and a z30 for presentations. This short fall has thrown a wrench in future deployments. I hate to return to using a freaking PC.

There is no way to update to latest version. BlackBerry need to push the update itself.

i've come to realize this CB forums are mainly used to vent. BlackBerry does not monitor these boards and no traction will come of these discussions. this flash issue is huge problem for a business device. ill attempt to open an SR tomorrow.

You can sideload chrome. I believe mobile chrome comes with the flash plugin. And Google does a great job of keeping it updated.

The version numbers of desktop Flash in comparison to your handset Flash mean very little since they are on two entirely different platforms. More than likely your issue is that Connect is going to be looking solely for a PC version of Flash as opposed to a specialised version used by BlackBerry. It looks as if Adobe has a separate version for mobile devices, but only for iOS and Android. If you're on a BES, unless you get your admin to make some changes to your network rules you won't be able to install the APK. Knowing Adobe, there's probably an additional charge for the mobile app too.

BlackBerry doesn't own the Flash code, Flash is a proprietary technology from Adobe. Updates used to come from Adobe and were then integrated into the OS by BlackBerry and pushed as OS updates. Adobe stopped releasing new versions of Flash for Mobile a few years ago, so BlackBerry (and other OEMs) is stuck with an old version that only gets updated with security fixes.

Chrome for mobile devices doesn't have Flash support. BlackBerry 10 is the only mobile OS that still has Flash support.

And even if Chrome still had Flash support, it would be the exact same version which is the last version of Flash for mobile released by Adobe.

The Flash Player inside the BlackBerry 10 browser is Flash for Mobile. Flash for Mobile has all the features of Flash for desktop. It's just coded to work on ARM devices.

BlackBerry can't use Flash for desktop as they don't own the code. Adobe only supplies the compiled player to OEMs. And obviously, the desktop version won't run on ARM devices.

BlackBerry actually did license the source code and creates their own build of Flash.

I was told by a BlackBerry representative at BlackBerry Live 2013.

Flash is dead on mobile. It's over. Apple and Google don't support it. It would be silly for little BB to take on further development of Flash given all the other things they need to do.

Who is the provider of your webinar? Do they not offer a mobile friendly url?

The license only covers security bug fixes. They can't release new versions of the player because there are no new versions released by Adobe. Flash Player 11.1 is the last version of Flash for Mobile released by Adobe.

Because Adobe didn't give them the current version since they stopped working on Flash for Mobile a few years ago.
