Michael Clewly recently hinted that we may soon have the ability to pin active frames and/or remove the grey border from the icons. I'm actually excited to see what 10.3 will bring as I feel it more aesthetics where as 10.2.1 was more functional.

Last time the guy confused tweets. Let's hope this doesn't happen again. I hate the horrendous boxes and icon discrepancies.

That's one of the only things I like about iOS.

Maybe I'm old, but I LOVE consistency and cleanness.

The horrendous boxes are designed to help with icon discrepancies.

I hate them too and hope they are gone when the next UI update is due.

Also, no one should read too deep into this. It's just a simple tweet replying to another tweet. Don't take this as any sort of confirmation.

Boxes aren't gray if you have a darker colored wallpaper;-D

I don't have any issues with the boxes but I would like the option to pin active frames.

With all the talk of 10.3, possible UI changes and the ability to pin active frames, I thought it would be relevant to bring this post up. It's pretty much confirmation that it is happening.

Nice to have the option for those who miss that Android look and feel.

I prefer to have a background behind the icons - it helps to differentiate them from the wallpaper, links the text to the icon and makes them actually look like things you can tap on. Android has a hate-on for making buttons look like buttons, they can keep the hideous flat, background-less design.

I even have backgrounds for my PC using Stardock Fences.

It is the concept to keep the active frame in the same place. Currently, the active frames work that if you open a new app the previously opened app's active frame is moved to the next place, and the new app active frame is in first place. Pinned active frames would be quite useful if you like to multitask and want to keep apps which display information, such as battery lover, weather, etc, in place.
