    4GLTE Showing instead of 4G?-img_00000167.png
    If you look at the top right corner, you'll see 4GLTE. I have never seen this, I normally get just 4G. I haven't even upgraded

    It's probably that your carrier has upgraded the cell tower nearest your location with the new faster service. If you notice when you drive around it bounces back and forth depending on the cell tower. That's a good thing now you will have better service.

    Maybe your carrier turned on LTE in your area?

    Isn't 4G and LTE the same thing? And thanks to whoever changed the title, it was too tired to think of a better one

    3G = HSPA/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA+
    4G = LTE

    Now that being said, carriers got impatient waiting for LTE. So they went ahead and labeled DC-HSDPA+ as 4G. When LTE was ready to be deployed, and since Long Term Evolution is the next step up from 3G ala 4G, the carriers just branded it as 4GLTE or just simply LTE.

    This said Carriers also label DC-HSDPA+ as LTE now because it can achieve theoretical speeds of 75mbps download. LTE teir 1 is 100mbps download (most common on the 1900/2100MHz bands). LTE teir 2 (Rogers' LTE Max Network) is 150mbps download. This is done on the 700/2600MHz bands, or by deploying 2x20MHz frequency separators on the 2100MHz band, like Rogers does in Manitoba, Canada.

    Now True 4G, is supposed to be 1GBps download theoretical. That said, we won't be hitting those speeds anytime soon. Samsung along with other phone manufacturers and network providers are already working on "5G" speeds, which is supposed to be 1.5GBps. Again it'll never happen in our life time. We may see the next network iteration hit tops of 500MBps if we're lucky.

    So to recap

    2G = Edge = E
    3G = HSPA/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA+ = H
    4G= DC-HSDPA+ = H+
    LTE = Teir 1/2 = 4GLTE

    Man I love having this all preset to a word sub
