- So a BlackBerry Passport accesses a 256gb microSDHC card? Why don't they advertise that?

- I also heard the Passport supports 256 GB micro SD but haven't seen the documented specs either

- I tend to look at what the CrackBerry's shop suggests, it suggested a 128GB card so it's fine !
Posted via CB1007-26-15 08:10 AMLike 0 - I missed it.
For what it's worth SanDisk makes it difficult on their website to browse by capacity. They are shipping 200GB microSDXC card in their Ultra line. Amazon shows it as available for shipping.

Also with some additional software, it's easy to change storage formats. I recently formatted an external HDD that is 1TB to FAT32 so that I could plus it into my PS3. No issues.

Edit:
I love stretching the limits of FAT lol

07-31-15 08:52 PMLike 0 - I purchased a $10 128GB MicroSD. At first it would not read it and could not format it either. I formated it exFat on my Win10 PC at default allocation and reinserted it. When I tried to format the card it said it needed to download drivers, which it did, and then, after formatting the card I have 124GB Available on my Z10 100-3 with 10.3.2.876 OS and 10.3.2.799 radio. - I can confirm that a 128 GB Micro SD works with a BlackBerry Leap running 10.3.2.2339
As someone said above, the theoretical maximum is around 2TB but that's all dependent on software. Just make sure it's formatted to exFat
Posted via BlackBerry Q5 on 10.3.2.233908-02-15 06:11 AMLike 0 - Typically 64GB and larger cards come formatted exFAT and the first time a card of that capacity is inserted in a BB10 phone the phone downloads the exFAT file system driver so it can read the card.
After that the BB10 phone can format exFAT.
Of course your phone has to be on BB10 v 10.3.1.x or higher.

With regards to formatting it again on the phone, I don't think it would change the FAT system but since I've never done it I'm not 100% sure what will happen.08-02-15 07:23 AMLike 0 -

Posted via CB1008-02-15 08:52 AMLike 0 - Those look like fake cards. MicroSD HC is only up to 32g. 128g should be a MicroSD XC card. Your card my be reporting 128g available, but If the card you purchased (like the ones pictured in your link) says HC, then you should try actually putting over 32g on it and see what happens. This is a common scam happening now with high capacity cards.

After reading your posts regarding the usability of the card I decided to give it a test. I had copied the 16.7GB of data to the card inserted into my pc. When I looked at the device details in the same storage settings the 16.7GB was shown as "Other", not Pictures or Music. When I tried to access the pictures the "scanning device" message was across the top of the screen. I erased and formatted the card only to still see the 16.7GB being stored on the card. Problem
I removed the card and then restarted the device. It still reported 16.7 GB but when I erased and formatted the card it now show 2MB of 124.9GB used. I plugged the phone via USB into the PC and then copied the same files and directories to the device (letting the Z10 do the writing) and while the initial transfer rate was around 100KB/s it eventuall sped up to an average tranfer rate around 1MB/s. The additional data being stored was immediately being reported by the storage settings, and I am able to see the pictures fro the appropraite apps.
So I am reporting that I had some issues that I am presently working through, but my Z10 formatted the card exFat 128GB with 124.9GB usable that I am presently using only 0.8GB, but it's working. SCAM or no SCAM, I am reporting my experience. I did read the article that was sited, and I didn't find any references to any SCAM, relative to misrepresenting labels or capacities, or how my device would see the card as 128GB capable so that it would then format and write to it. We shall see, and I will continue to report my experience.
For those who don;t have any actual evidence other than specs to question what will happen when more than 32GB are addressed, I would suggest buying one and trying it for yourselves, because even if what you SAY is true, at $10, a 32GB MicroSD HC is still a great buy! LOL
Stay tuned!08-02-15 11:35 AMLike 0 - Calvin, the link is for an explanation of HC and XC, not intended to explain the scam. Sorry for the confusion. From what I have read, these fake cards run into a problem when you try to READ back data that is stored over 32g, and that it sometimes appears the WRITE without displaying an error. I'm just writing this to warn people - no offense intended. Also, there are fake 256g cards that have the same EXACT graphics as some of those in your link. There ARE NO 256g cards even in existence - only 200g at this time. Obvious fakes. They even showed up on Amazon.com, but appear to have been pulled.
I'm not sure I understand completely the results of your test. Are you saying that you have successfully wrote, and read back, over 32g? Please keep us posted. I understand they are cheap and you might not care if it turns out to work only at 32g (or possible even only 16), but just trying to save time and money for the next guy who really has little use for a 16g card at any price.
Please let us know how things turn out with yours.
