I'm happy to present to you my latest app, 10Bars.
10Bars: Download Carrier OS Bars to your BlackBerry-img_20140126_092023.png 10Bars: Download Carrier OS Bars to your BlackBerry-img_20140126_092107.png
    What is 10Bars?
10Bars is a bit like the OS lookup portion of Sachesi (http://forums.crackberry.com/bb10-le...taller-825409/), except you can run it on your BlackBerry 10 Device rather than needing a PC.

Once a list of bars has been generated, you can download any .bar to the misc folder of your device memory. All you have to do is click the .bar name and the download will start!

Unfortunately, 10Bars does not allow you to install the bars you've downloaded. For that, you can use Sachesi, the Chrome Extension, or SideSwype from your device (http://forums.crackberry.com/blackberry-10-apps-f274/official-sideswype-thread-sideload-bars-apks-ota-840350/).

    10Bars is highly customizable
10Bars by default will use your device information to look up an OS for you. However, you can change the lookup information to use any pin, and imei, and carrier, anything. These changes are saved as soon as you type them. You can reset settings if you want as well. You can even search for specific OSes!

    10Bars requests Device Identifying Information
This information is not collected by me, it is merely used to check for updates. You don't have to allow it, but the app will work better if you do.

10Bars source code is available (but not open source)
I haven't bothered trying to hide how 10Bars works at all. You can easily unpack the bar and view the source code to see how it works. This serves the additional purpose of allowing you to know that I do not receive any personal information of yours.
That being said, 10Bars isn't open source. I do respectfully ask that people do not publish modified versions of 10Bars. I also would respectfully request that only the download links in this OP are used.

10Bars stands on the Shoulders of Giants
I'd like to throw a big thanks out to Sacha here, because without Sachesi/Sachup there's no way this little project of mine could ever have happened. I'd also like to express my appreciation to the other devs who have helped me out on this one, especially Devan (tekneakz here on CrackBerry).

    10Bars is in Beta
I put a lot into this initial release, but that doesn't mean that it's bug free. If you find a bug, please let me know.

    10Bars needs your help!
I'm more than happy to add some new features to 10Bars. One that I'd specifically like to add is a list of MCC/MNC codes for the biggest carriers (Verizon, AT&T, Rogers, Orange UK (or whatever is big there). However, I do not have time to try to sit and figure out all the best Country/Carrier/Device combos. If you would like a specific MCC/MNC you would like added, please enter it at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1lNs...87lFc/viewform - when I have a decent list, I'll see about adding it to 10Bars.

    10Bars is FREE!
Perhaps the best part of 10Bars is that it's free
If you really, really, really like 10Bars, I do accept donations. There's a hidden PayPal donations link in 10Bars (you can't see it) if you want to donate, but you have to find it first
Or you can buy some of my other apps, SCrApps - BlackBerry World.

I love playing around with JavaScript, and this one was a lot of fun to write But once it's been written, there's no advantage I can see in not releasing it.
As far as it being free, I wouldn't feel right charging for it since all I really did was build an app around existing work.

Normally I would agree, however I can see 2 instances where this would be useful.

    1. You are somewhere where you don't have an Internet connection for your pc and don't have tethering or hotspot.

    2. Maybe the dev is planning ahead. If we can install apks directly on our phones why not be able to install bars in a future release?

    Keep up the good work.

I download things on my BlackBerry to use on my PC all the time I might be at work and don't want to forget to download it later, or out of the house, or my PC might just not be on. Downloading it to my BlackBerry makes whatever I planned to download available as soon as I'm at my PC to install it.

I do hold out hope that BlackBerry will eventually allow installing bars from device memory. I didn't think they would, but then they started allowing it for Android apps so maybe they'll eventually add that ability. In the meantime, as Devan pointed out, you can use SideSwype to install the bar from your device if you can't wait to get to a PC.

Which you have to pay for eventually.

I see some great development here, but I'm struggling to see the point.

    Sorry.

Good work. I have to admit though that without the install portion it is only 50% there. Once the install portion is working, this will be awesome.
