This is so early in the 10.3 build cycle I wouldn't get too worried if it's not there yet. Hopefully when it does get released it'll be there.

With it being so early and already seeing all the new features added, I'm really excited to see what the final build will be like.

BlackBerry is too busy making unnecessary UI changes to think about stuff like an EQ.

Awful, cluttered UI. But going by your avatar, you're just the person they were designing it for.

The equalizer is hiding from people who keep on requesting stuff from a baby OS build.

I have to agree here. You really can tell the instant you open it that it's an android port. Just a horrible layout. Bought it and then stopped using it after I saw how terrible it looks.

An EQ in a mono phone like the q10/Z10 is a waste of time.

Give the BlackBerry Dev's work on something more useful.

    I don't see a smiley, so I assume you're serious.

The OP is asking about an EQ in the media player for music which is most likely in stereo when listened to with headphones, or over bluetooth speakers.

The sound now is rather anemic even with decent over-the-ear headphones. There seems to be a lot of bass roll-off below the 150-200Hz range.

Not to me. They are better than iPhone ear buds, but they are still ear buds and I've never heard a set that sound good. They are all tinny and weak and I can't stand them. Good for talk/news radio, but that's it.

If I can't hear the deliberate right channel 30Hz rumble under the sax solo during Pink Floyd's "Money", then they aren't for me.

Sorry, that simply isn't true. I measured my Q and the frequency response with balanced armature in-ears (which actually costs more than my phone and are extremely hard to drive) attached is dead straight from 30 to 20 000 Hz. No roll-off or peaks at any frequency.

It's almost as good as an iPhone 4 - the best smartphone to drive delicate headphones.

    BTW:
Bass frequency range is between 0 and 150 Hz.

    Yeah, I know.

Maybe my Z10 is calibrated differently. From the midrange to the upper end of my hearing (which I'll admit is not as high as it used to be), my Z does seem rather flat with no piercing upper-mids that I'm rather sensitive to. It's just that bass does sound rolled off compared to listening to the same material on a computer using the same headphones and everything set flat and all enhancements turned off.

Probably not a fair comparison, but it's all I've got to go by. Can't go by my home or even car system as that introduces vastly different anomalies.

AFAIK are all sound chips build into BB 10 devices the same - so they all should behave similiar.

Here the measured a Q5 and plotted frequency response:
    BlackBerry Q5 review: The apprentice - GSMArena.com
The waves in graph are there due to re-sampler issues between the audio interface and windows. Keep that in mind and the graph is flat.
