What is even the function of this home screen? I dont think ill like it because it would just increase the number of swipes I would have to do to reach hub.

It was actually a highly requested feature. Some people like to show off their wallpaper without getting covered up with a bunch of app icons.

I think the "homescreen" should be extended to do most of the functions that now occur on the lock screen, but can now be more interactive - including some running info from native or third party apps - weather, stocks, news, sports scores, things like that. Similar to Android widgets, but better done, and NOT stuck in an active frame box.

Good news is, you can turn the feature off if you don't like it. So there's no reason to complain about it. Many others love it. Having the option is the great thing about it. There are many things I don't like in the OS were there are no options at all in how to deal with something.
