As long as they upgrade BB10 for whatever road they take I will stay off the slider and keep my Z30. Think the priv is gonna be the phone that nobody wants cos the mixture of HW and SW will appeal to very few people
Android has 83% of the global market. You don't believe that some of those people may be interested in a physical keyboard and/or a bit more security? More than 800,000 maybe?

Read the release. It's pretty clear.

"Today, BlackBerry is announcing TWO new additions to its handheld device ROADMAP. FIRST, the company will launch a flagship slider device, Priv, which will run on the Android operating system, bringing together the best of BlackBerry security and productivity with the expansive mobile application ecosystem available on the Android platform...... SECOND, the company will continue to develop and enhance the BlackBerry 10 operating system and is confirming plans to release platform updates focused on security and privacy enhancements, with version 10.3.3 scheduled to be available in March 2016."

I still believe there will be a BB10 version. Maybe not released at the same time, but I reckon it will come.

He meant the Android Slider provides another OS choice for BlackBerry users.

10.3.2 is fine for me fixes-wise. I want new features
    Laggy Homescreen,
    Call Answer and call delay,
    Browser randomly glitching,
Slow to update built in Apps Active Frames ect

He confirmed: no BB10 This calendar/financial year. He didn't rule out new BB10 devices after that timeframe. (although I think that's the way it's going to be)

No I don't think there will be 800.000 old fashioned farts even amongst these people. I can't insert it for some reason but still remember the how BlackBerry apple android user sees himself/ other people. As usual BlackBerry puts themselves between two stools. The people who wants the slider are vastly the same people who prefer bb10 over android.

Chen just said on the earnings call that if the Priv sells well, he would be happy to switch to Android because phones are a lot cheaper to build since they don't have to pay to have the drivers made for BB10 devices.

I'm an old fashioned fart because I like a BlackBerry physical keyboard AND apps at the same time? Hmm. Ok.

Sorry for the insult it wasn't intended but you missed my point entirely. You are part of a minority group team BlackBerry Base rate of these people some prefer full touch so that makes the group of classy people even smaller. People already on Android have gotten used to touch phones and of the BlackBerry population some prefer touch phones and some prefer to stay on bb10.

On a side I think BlackBerry would have more luck introducing a cheap q5 like slider. All in all the market for paying extra premium is very small when BlackBerry have been "absent" for such a long time and you can get premium phones from HTC Samsung Sony and Apple at a discount.

If there's any chance of an Android Passport I might put my Priv purchase on hold! Given a choice I'd buy a PassDroid instead.
