So now my Z10 is a legacy device....

Next week would fall into the coming months, so really we still don't know.

Sorry but "in the coming months" is a extremely common phrase from companies that won't give an exact date yet - and absolutely pointless.
And it ranges from 3-4 weeks up to 4-5 months.

So they still don't say that 10.3.1.xxxx is not coming in December like currently planned.

With that Phrase, they say nothing at all. Means they could have even tell you that it is coming "soon"

Yep, that's my feeling too... besides, it's not a message from tech team but from customer support, so guys that know virtually nothing apart from what their computer says after they troubleshoot your query. Most likely they are even an outsourced call centre

Apparently during the presentation of the BlackBerry Passport in Italy it was mentioned that BlackBerry OS 10.3.1 would be arriving at the beginning of 2015.
On the other hand with the Classic being pushed back to December I think a January release date for 10.3.1 is more than likely

To be honest, BlackBerry Help on Twitter is as useless as their BlackBerry Support. No offense to anyone who works there.

The thing I'm afraid of is this. They will release the Classic in December, but it probably won't be available until 2 -3 weeks after that. Then they will release the update to the carriers, and God knows how long they will take to push it out.

I'm assuming of course, that the carriers are still handling the updates? I would welcome somebody to correct me, if I'm mistaken there.

It's for this reason that I downloaded my first leak yesterday. I always wanted to wait for the official, but I'm an impatient, shallow, petty man. Really digging it so far.

Carriers still have control... it's in their agreement with BlackBerry.

Most of the world will get 10.3.1 when BlackBerry announces it's release to the world.... US customers, maybe BlackBerry will delay it so there isn't a gap.

The more things change the more they remain the same. I love the direction BlackBerry has taken and all of the improvements hit this is still something that they lack in. I know it's probably not entirely their fault, but it would just suck if after waiting all this time we would find out its not going to be compatible with legacy devices. Shades of the old PlayBook days

Why shouldnt it be compatible? There already are whitelisted z10, z30, q10 users in the 10.3 beta program who are also able to use blend.

I think I know what's killing BlackBerry. Being late in releasing updates and upgrades. 10.3 and Classic should have been out by now.

But that's in the beta stage. It doesn't mean all is going to function properly and that certain functions won't be removed in the final release

Only for those too scared to load a leak. Running Z30STA100-5/10.3.1.1016 myself for a week. Others running even longer.

    Z30, Z30STA100-5/10.3.1.1016, I missed you.

You are just guessing since it does not appear you are in the beta program.

But forget the beta program. Lots of people have installed a leaked version on all Gen 1 devices.

Show me one example of a working BB10 os on a PlayBook. Leak, beta or otherwise. You can't because it never worked in spite of BlackBerry 's best efforts.

So you are comparing apples and oranges.

I remember a Blackberry employee named Thorsten Heins who kept telling everyone about updates and changes coming to Playbook and BB cell phones. Consumers got tired of listening and decided to buy other brands. I am getting the feeling it is deja vu with the Classic and OS 10.3.1 upgrade.

Tomorrow is "in the coming months". Two months from now is "in the coming months". Any point in the future is "in the coming months". The most reliable timeline for 10.3.1 to be released is when it is ready. Why not enjoy a refreshing leak while you wait?
