Today, I had the opportunity to speak with someone who works with BlackBerry (not an entry level employee) but someone with credibility, and asked "you don't have to tell me, but when are we going to have 10.2 in our hands officially? " I was pleased to have been told it will be officially released within the first two - three weeks of autumn. Now for you lovely patient Americans, this unfortunately did not mean you, we were speaking specifically about the great white north, Canada. It's already being reviewed by the Canadian carriers, and should be out according to that time frame, and keep in mind Canadian Carriers were on time and on board when BlackBerry announced the 10.1 update.

We did speak about the so called sabotage of BlackBerry in the US of A, and his answer was very simple but obvious.
"American carriers are not forth coming, not interested, and not following our marketing plans we set out for them to follow " "we as a company can advertise only so much. But unfortunately it does fall on the carrier to push the product. "

I wanted to share this info with you guys...again this was a conversation I had with an employee at BB. and i wanted to share the news with yall. Keep your fingers crossed that it does come out in that time frame, and have a great day everyone!

Those are great news for Canadians. But since I live in the states, my question is. If I buy a Canadian sim through ebay or whatever, would I be able to dl the update?

Yes. Absolutely. I do this and recommend it over leaks.

Catch: Phone must be unlocked and of course Wifi required.

Hope this release can coincide with the release of the Z30 as some have speculated. Who knows?

Agree. I have an unlocked BlackBerry Z10 bought from UK and I am in middle east. I update my OS by using pay ad you go SIM cards when new updates are available.

You do realize that autumn officially begins 22 September which means the alleged BlackBerry OS 10.2 "official" release won't see the light of day until the middle of October. But the calendar used by BlackBerry management never seems to align with the Gregorian calendar or any other known calendar dating as far back as prehistory.

10.2 official will be out the same time as the Z30. Just like 10.1 was with the Q10.

But likely Z30 will be the first to have it and a week or so later Canada and almost everywhere but US will have it. That's how it was with the Q10, anyway.

I'm completely aware of this, but thank you for pointing this out to the many who don't know this. I think this is important to point so, so remember just cuz the colour of the leaves change doesn't mean it's coming out the next day. Lol

That's funny my friends in BlackBerry said 10.2 is still very buggy and they are still working on it. I would not believe carriers are testing a buggy OS. I do believe it will be out OCT or NOV once Z30 comes out like 10.1 for Z came with Q10.

Actually there are some fairly significant bugs, but they are in the new APIs. Not unexpected, it is beta code, but you won't see them unless you are running code compiled against the 10.2 SDK that uses the new APIs.

Sorry OP 2 months is not soon and this time frame is what we were all expecting to begin with approximately 6 weeks after the gold sdk release just like with 10.1.

This makes more sense since the 10.2 leaks had a very recent build date on them. No way the carriers are testing yet.

I feel the sameway. Give us a date. Stick to it and you would be a good gesture to show your appreciation to those of us who had faith in you. I would like to add that in our new house the playbook will fit under any door. I agree about apps. With side loading Android apps you gave have an astronomical choice if programs. But to me that seems like buying. 60 k Beamer and buying a Kia Soul engine to make it run. Hopefully it gets better.

And here lies part of the problem; You cannot just release a product, (especially in the case of BlackBerry given the performance over the last 4 years.) and expect the carriers to do all of the leg work for you.

You yourself have to teach the bird to fly. Once it does and units are moving off of the shelves, you can bet they would be more than happy to advertise that 'they' offer this wonderful product.

Who is running this company and making the decision to rely mostly on carriers to make or break them? It is very clear they will do just fine without blackberries, it's also clear that it does not work both ways.

The 10.2 SDK hasn't gone gold yet. When it does we are expecting 1-2 months until we actually see it being released by any carrier.

My guess is that the SDK will go gold at BB jam Asia September 26th.
