I just noticed that there are no Internet search engines under the extended tab in search settings. So I can't do a Web search from instant action. Has anyone else noticed this problem. There has to be a way to manually add a search provider.

Makes me wonder what happens if you do the voice control saying "search the Internet for blah blah"

    Try it out

I started a thread about this earlier. I had it set up to quick search Google instead of the help folder.... 10.2 still worth it even if there are no search engines lol

That's what you get with a leak

Yeah there's another thread about this. It's appearing for some people and not for some others for people running the .1047 leak.

My friend has search engine options in the global search tool, but I don't. Not a deal breaker though.

Could it be dependant on what z10 they have?

I have the stl3 and I still have the web search function.

Same here but mine doesn't work. I was thinking maybe the way we restored our data? I did a full restore while some posts were recommending not restoring application data. Although I don't know how that would relate. Same thing with hot spot. Just doesn't seem to work for some people, myself included.

    Last time I'm posting this.

If you restore settings you lose Web search from the search app.
I've followed every solution to fix it, nothing has worked for me. But one thing I can say for sure: if you don't restore, all is fine. You can restore app data (only from 10.2, app data from 10.1 breaks the Android player) and media as well, it is settings that breaks search.

Sounds like it probably works but unfortunately not an option for me. Looks like I'll just wait for the new leak.

    Try this.
Open browser, in the url field type a simple word.
In the upper side a search field appears, with the possibility to choose your favourite search service.
By default it's Bing, change it in Google and start searching.

    Close the browser.
Back to universal search now... Type something to be searched, you should see Google, Bing and Yahoo showing up.

This worked for me, hope can help.

I restored my settings and application data on my STL100-3, and yet I still have the option to extend my search to the web in the Search app, using Google, Bing, or Yahoo. This bug is likely a bit more complicated than that.

Did you restore from a backup?

I didn't, so that's probably why I still have extended web search.
