Hi,

I'm looking to make the leap to 10.3 for my Z30 and it seems from my reading that the conservative approach would be an auto loader and then reinstall everything. My biggest issue with this is that I'd like to bring over my text message threads and last time I did a non-official upgrade I lost them all (in fact Blackberry Link does not even back them up.) So I was hoping to get a few comments on if there is a way to move these over or even retrieve them.

Link definitely does backup text messages. When you backup the device, make sure you check the "data" box or something like that, but it does backup text messages

You could also try finding a free app that backs up your texts as well...

You might try a test with someone you trust, send them a sample text thread you have, and see if they get all of the thread.
Then delete that text on your device, and have them send it back to you, and see what you get. Or don't get....

Last time I tried Link, I lost several items including the text messages after I had done a full backup. It could have been because it was not an "official" release, but I was pretty disappointed with it. There should be a better way to do this as in being able to export contacts, text messages, email settings (minus the passwords), etc. Are there any apps for backing up texts?

3) download and install "SMS Backup"
