On twitter the emoji that I used to see as boxes with X's in now appear as black and white emoticons, not truly emoji integration as they are not the same, nor colour, but an improvement none the less.

Was this down to 10.1 or Twitter update?

This is definitely due to the 10.1 update. I noticed the same thing in my twitter app (blaq). It's a subtle change but I like it a lot.

There are still a number of them that won't display, but emoji support has definitely improved in the 10.1 leak.

I really don't understand why they would not address this. Emoji support key to some type of cross platform experience. I for one use it a lot! Not having key apps out now, not having the jelly bean runtime out now, are key reasons why I am holding off on blackberry. Phones need to just work! If they are going to make us wait for system updates to address key UI issues in a new era of smartphone competition then the cost of the phone either on contract or out right purchase should be adjusted. $99 on contract for os 10 devices and $350 for purchase outright. Then I would feel better about waiting for blackberry to catch up.
Get a phone that best meets your needs. If the BBRY is not that phone, no point wasting your time here.

You sound like making a phone is easy one shot, press of a button... just don't. You make yourself look like a fool.

It's a welcomed addition now let's get Instagram to make a proper app for us. Bombard their tech support email with me lol.

We should get Kevin or Blaze to schedule a certain time where every BBRY user sends the same email to Instagram tech support so we get heard and they launch the app for us. If it works we can target other big apps like Netflix, Hulu, Gotomeeting etc... Their's a strong chance it would work.

I wish we had those few emoticons that we had on Twitter For BlackBerry on legacy devices, or the ones from UberSocial. There weren't many, but they were still nice to have.
