the weird part is it can run the latest OS

I think the hardware of it should be the same as Dev alpha A, but as we known the 10.1 is the furthest it can go.

Because this would be a Dev Alpha B, not a A. Dev A internals are lower than Dev B internals.

Yeah, my dev alpha b runs the latest os almost as well as my stl 100-3

Definitely a Dev Alpha B with a Z10 shell. Don't know of or ever heard of a Z10 model that only had 1Gb of ram. Only ones I have ever seen were modified Dev Alpha's (And only the B version, A was quite a bit different)

Some pre-release Q10s and Z10s have 1GB of RAM instead of 2GB, although they may or may not be upgradeable past 10.0.10. If you can find an IMEI, it should start with 0044.

Alpha b has 1 gb of ram and whenever you run a autoloader on the dev alpha b beyond the officially supported dev os version the model number in the about section of the settings screen changes to show z10 instead of BlackBerry 10 dev alpha b. I think someone just put the dev alpha b inside a z10 case and stuck their demo only sticker on the back of it.

In my opinion the processor + the ram is why it works fine on the dev alpha b but won't on the pb

WiFi PB is OMAP 4430.
LTE PB and Dev Alpha A are OMAP 4460.
Dev Alpha B and STL100-1 are OMAP 4470.

Now try to put 10.2.1 on a Dev Alpha A...
