But on the bright side, you get a limited edition BlackBerry device lol
Yep, but currently I need to pay for both Dev Alpha B and BB 10 LE. Dev Alpha stuck at customs (with declared value of $700 :S ) + $xxxx for BB 10 LE. Damn you government

My prayers have been heard, Thanks RIM

Just like the previous target OS update, this one brings simply a newer version of the BlackBerry 10 SDK OS but with a slight twist. This January 30th update will also include the BlackBerry Hub, phone, and BlackBerry Maps applications. Adding these three new applications will go further to help developers test their end-to-end integration with core BlackBerry 10 applications.

Don't "ditch" anything too quickly! The Dev Alphas WILL BE DISABLED, possibly as early as Feb 18th.

They will not be supported indefinitely!

speaking of 9810, i really wish they will have a slider BB10 device at some point. to me thats the perfect form factor. it may be thicker than a candybar, but to me its the best of both worlds, with no space being wasted for an OSKB

I wonder if the Facebook, twitter and SMS apps will be included in the update since they are technically apart of the Hub?

Probably not since you can add an account to go into the hub without the actual app needing to be there and after all, they are doing this to allow devs to access functions they may need for their apps and not so they have a fully working device.

The question is, which version of the software will disable it? I am curious if internal builds will disable them as well.

There's a super slim chance the limited edition will be a slider. Can't blame me for dreaming . I'd prefer a slider too.

It seems that you are using loader that built for London EU. Same I did.

Have u watch the remaining RAM available? I found something strange happened. The remaining RAM available is for about 400 MB. But still, alpha can handle up to 8 programs at the same time without giving the out of memory warning.

    To answer the OPs question:

    - Yes, it looks like the BB10 OS can be pushed to a dev alpha, the same as you can push BB10 beta os to a PlayBook

    - Initial investigation suggests it may actually bypass the bricking. But this is not the only way to bypass it.

    - It won't really work well though. Much like the BB10 Beta push to PB, the drivers "just aint right" and the sdks do things the dev alpha can't handle.

Bc of this I don't know if the mic, audio, wifi, cellular, calling or txting will work.

Hub, BBM, Browser probably will run at least.

One of the smarter folks on our group is looking into it closer.
