The note provided with the dev alpha states this should be downloaded to perform an OS update.
I know full well an OS update is not available but after doing a wipe I need to get back to square one and was hoping to try this method. Unfortunately I am unable to connect my device to device manager to perform an update as drivers are needed.
I believe you will probably have to start from scratch if you do a wipe... I would assume you would be able to connect to the computer though. The RIM usb driver is a generic one, device non-specific. Try the BDM that came with the PB 2.0.1.358, 7.0.0.58, and see if it recognizes. It is the newest version of BDM.
After you wipe, once you connect to wifi, it should allow you to download the necessary modules, like on the playbook.
But then again, I don't have an actual alpha device, i'd love one . I'm writing this based on my knowledge of the QNX system, and how it works on the playbook.
This process abruptly fails. I am quite sure desktop manager 7.1 is going to be required for a reload as the dektop manager literally displays nothing about this device hence the "Unknown Device" and a PIN of "0".
It tries to connect briefly to find an update only to immediately return a misguided internet connection failure alert (which is not accurate). I have not thrown a packet sniffer on the system to see what it tried to connect to however.
The info included stated that Desktop Manager 7.1 would be available and I am trying to find out if anyone has seen it...
