I used to have a WiFi analyzer on my Bold that would turn on my wifi when I got close to one of my saved networks. Does BB10 have something like that?

Tried converting my favorite one on Android and it worked except it would find networks except one called Blackberry Network (something like that). I assume it doesnt have access to the wifi API

Definitely does NOT work. Non-working apps should be removed.

    Well, I can't help you.
But the OS can prompt you to turn on Wi-Fi if close to a saved network.. You still have to flip the switch, but it does recognize nearby saved hot spots.

Wi-Fi > Advanced > Prompt when a saves hotspot is found nearby

Not what you want, but at least is something.

The legacy BB could scan wifi networks in the area and display the mac addres, strength in db, etc. BB 10 does this only after it is connected with the network. Or does someone know how to do this just by scanning?

Do we have any options? This would be a huge battery saver!

How does your device know how close you are to a saved network when WIFI is off?

You can try GeoToolsBox. It can turn on wifi when you near a specified location like Office or Home.

It was a great app for BBOS7. It ran in the background and would turn on the wifi when it came in range of a saved network. It was free! Suprised that has not been developed for BB10.

Used the wifi analyzer on my Bold as well and would like to see a similar app on bb10. The problem is that currently bb10 does not offer an api to switch off wifi, there is only an api for switch on wifi.
