A well known whatsapp feature (I'm sure discussed countless times here in CB) that was in BBOS but not BB10 is:

The ability to set custom alert settings for group that differs from standard contact.

[I'm part of a whatsapp group with my friends that can get over 75 messages an hour. I don't want it vibrating or ringing my phone. But when my mom whatsapp's me I want it to ring.
This was only able to be done on BBOS (7)]

Is there any way, using a 3rd party app such as Hub++ to differentiate the settings between group and contact??

Unfortunately this is because BB10 only lets an app add a single notification profile to the system.
BBOS actually let apps register as many notification profiles with the system as they wanted to.

If you have an active group you don't want to get constant notifications from, the best option is to Mute that group.

Yes you will. The only thing group Mute does is prevent the app from generating notifications (beeps/flashing-LED/etc) when new messages come in for that group.

Where is the mute option? I saw it once but now can find it

On the group's chat screen, tap the overflow item (3 vertical dots) in the lower-right corner of the screen. On the menu that comes up, "Mute" will be one of the options. (This is the same menu all the other actions, like media sharing, are on.)
