I rebuilt the android Whatsapp .apk into a .bar file, that fits better to our system, it's not like the original Whatsapp for BB10 but works great, and I think I can keep it working for a while longer than 2017. Do you guys want the .bar file?

Is it the latest version of apk ,can you send pic using that version?

Yeah, it's the latest. Not fully integrated with Hub, it'll only show notifications in the pattern number of conversations - number of messages like on a notification bar. It just is a little better in performance.

As you can see, contact sync is absolutely fine as well as push.

Pics are going fine on my phone. File I wasn't able to test yet.

I don't think it may work in other devices at the moment. I'm still studying the image/file sending mechanics anyway.

That'd be great to get the WA rebuilt bar. Is it different in some way from running the beta apk?

It performs a little better in behavior and notifications, and is more "energy economy mode-friendly" also.

If someone's working on getting WhatsApp for Android working decently like me and has started looking at the image and document sending protocols would be nice to get some help...
I'm still trying what I can because I just love the platform and want to keep it alive, but I'm just a student.

Well, it's spending a bit less battery and performs faster when accessed by notifications and the app icon itself also, because there's no need on Android emulator.
I think we can make images and file sending to work with a patched whatsapp.cfg file, and I'm already studying this possibility.
I'm also studying if I can take the cfg file of the WhatsApp for BB10, but maybe it wouldn't work after the end of year... That's the point.

The bar format is simply a wrapper. It's still an Android app. It makes no difference at all.

WhatsApp (Android version) can only send media or files that are flagged as public. Unfortunately BB10 files maintain the ownership of the user.

Victor, congratulations and thanks for your work. We all will love you for that. But here another idea to keep WA alive for us OS 10 users: let us pay Mister Zuckerberg 1 or 2 Dollars a year for supporting us after the end of this year? I think this is a quite simple idea. But it would work and We would stay "real" members of the Club. So cry out: Yes, let us pay for WhatsApp!

We already pay. When we use Whatsapp we agree to send some information to advertisers. I heard that only a single guy is working on the Whatsapp for BB10 upkeep.

But make the app paid to keep this guy's salary, hey, it seems good, but if they just don't give a **** about either us and the guy?

Maybe I was a little naive. But it is a reaction of feeling helpless. At the end, Mister Chen is not interested to keep Blackberry strong. If so, nothing will help in the long term.
    Nice day!

I think he's just focusing (too much) on a corporative-purpose system. BB10 is still supported and does a great job as an OS, and deserve to stay alive.

Look, I hate to burst your bubble. Bar wrapped apk and apk install itself does the same thing as Thurask also pointed out
If you really want to do something useful, consider modifying the apk itself to work with the BB10 ecosystem, allowing it to access files that it currently cannot, etc.
But please, stop with this bar packaging nonsense. If you take the apk from your bar and install it, it'll run identical
