I lost all my contacts after rebooting to fix an SD card issue that I hope is not related to whatsapp, but refreshing contacts and favourites fixed it pretty quickly.
Rebooting will cause you to lose all your contacts in whatsapp :(
Im pretty sure this is some sort of bug in Whatsapp related to rebooting the phone. I installed it, everything works fine, can see all contacts and names and their status. I rebooted the phone and favourite contacts now showed with no names or status, just their pics. Tried refreshing contacts, after which the favourites count dropped down to zero! Couple more reboots and refreshing did nothing, still showing zero contacts, even played around with Whatsapp permission settings but no good.
Just deleted and reinstalled Whatsapp and favourite contacts are now showing up correctly again. Whatsapp need to fix this issue sharpish!
I found a policy setting in the BES 10 console that says "Personal Apps Access to Work Contacts". I had it set to "RIM Apps" only. I'll change it to all and push out the policy and report back.
After making the changes above, refreshing the policy, and pulling the battery all of my contacts and favs were present. But, then after another battery pull, they were gone. Doh!
And with another battery pull and refresh, there back...
Wow....that was brilliant - and you came to this conclusion how exactly? Mine's broken as well as many other users around here and I'd bet you a very large sum of money it's the app, not the user. 16 posts and you're the new App God! I will reach out to you in the future for technical help!
This is the issue almost everyone has with the app, including me. I dumped it last night after 3 reloads. Each reload brings them back and each reboot removes them. It seems dangerous to even have this app installed on my Z10. It's so bad, I worry about device corruption. A "remove" does not wipe the settings from the device either - that's bad.
Is there a way to delete contacts? It seems to have imported all mine from an old email address, but none of them are useable - I cannot "click" on them for messaging. And how do I add a contact? It didn't seem this complicated on my old BB with 7.
Whatscrapp whatsapp.
