This is the version. Updated from Beta zone few days ago.
I knew the 'salamander whisper' clue in the description thing has some kind of a meaning.. LOL
And on the initial install, it didn't show the call tab.
Only today when I was replying my friend's message, I notice the call tab on top right of my friend's profile view.

They are fast and quiet at implementing new features. The opposite of BBM and BlackBerry pretty much (announces something, and takes half a year to deliver).

Half a year?
BBM promised XBBM video much longer ago than 6 months... and still hasn't delivered!

I beg to differ! The opposite would be "slow and loud", but I really don't hear anything...
As a BB lover it hurts to see the competition moving at such a fast pace.
Hopefully this goes on a global rollout. I would like to abandon Skype or Viber for calls -_-

This IS cross platform. When almost everyone we know use WhatsApp and now it will become even more easier to reach and call worldwide via data or WiFi.

WhatsApp still can't send files like pdf, doc, xls. WhatsApp still doesn't have feeds and channel like on BBM. I'm waiting those features on whatsApp more than the voice call.
Now here is the question an average person would ask, again:
Why I should use BBM over WhatsApp?
And I don't want to hear PIN versus phone number and security because obviously the crowds using WhatsApp, Viber do not care and they are way way way more than BBM users
Obviously, using BBM also need BBM ID. Which for some in developing countries maybe that's too much. Need to create email account, etc. Not practical. I this case whatsapp is way easier to start. Even regarding to email account, they don't really care about the account, once forget the password they just create a new account. Means, new BBM ID. Using whatsapp is simpler.
