I'll list all of the top apps with no native or a not very good one in BB world. You should just make a poll on all the apps I listed. I'm not doing them in any particular order btw. I am going to leave IMs out but Tango and LINE both have 100+ million downloads while kik is 50+ mil. I am leaving them out because we need BBM to excel :P

Downloads are based off of google play only. m= Millions, d = downloads.

games and bank apps... hopefully you realize that these cannot be done or even ported by another dev.

even paypal is risky because no dev wants the liability of it plus I don't even think they have an open API. Most likely they don't (99% sure)

A payment app like Square does have an open API

Nope, for some VPN to connect to you need cisco anyConnect client. Also it is easier to set up anyConnect.
I hope to see cisco anyconnect or openConnect for BB. Android has both.

So, I was looking through the list for something to implement.
I'm discarding ones without an official api - I have no interest in playing follow the api, so no pinterest (sorry).

And I saw tumblr. Now that looks promising, but then I thought - on 10.2, the official android client works pretty darned well for me. Is there still call for a native client? And for what features (beyond simply 'being native'?)

I agree with you but the general public (not being on crackberry), wont download android apps. I can see a lot of people not even knowing about downloading android apps.

BlackBerry themselves haven't really promoted it except for a little post in their blog.

If Tumblr was fully featured in app world I can completely see it going more popular to people using BlackBerry's. I wont use it but believe me a lit of people have been asking for it.
    Examles:
    1. iGrann, blackgram - instagram apk works 100% and even has more features likr direct look at all the downloads. People will actually pay for blackgram instead of getting the apk

    2. Snap2chat- same deal with snapchat apk. It wotks perfectly and there is actually more people paying for it on bbworld then getting the free version.

It's better for BlackBerry 's ecosystem to weed out the android apps.

Okay, here's a simple app I'd like to see in BB World. I'd try to write it myself, but I haven't really done any programming since I taught myself with Turbo Pascal in the late 1980s! What I have in mind is a clone of an Android app called Shush! Here's how it works:

The app is headless, once it's started. When you switch the phone to Silent or Vibrate, it detects it and pops up a screen with a dial that you can use to set how long it stays silent/vibrate, after which time it reverts back to Normal. That's it! Very simple, and very useful! I tried to use the Android app on my Q10, but it doesn't quite work. It detects when the phone is set to silent or vibrate, but it doesn't switch it back after the selected time is up.

The app I have in mind would have two dials or selectors, linked to each other. The user can select either how long to stay in silent/vibrate or can choose a time at which it will revert to normal. Choosing a value in one selector should modify the other one.

The Shush! app does 15 minute increments. I think this is about right. I find this very handy for those times when I go into a meeting or a movie and put my phone on silent, but forget to switch it back when the event is over.

There's an existing app, Profile Changer, that allows you to do something like this, but only in 1-hour increments. And it's not triggered by switching the phone to silent/vibrate. You have to go to the app to do it. I think the way Shush! does it is better.

I think it shouldn't be too hard for an experienced developer to build something like this, and I think it would be a popular utility. I know I'd buy it.

Can someone please design a native BB10 Audiobook reader app, since Overdrive is no longer supporting BB? I tried using the Android version of Overdrive via Amazon Apps and it is not working so good.
