As the heading states, who makes the best offline map or GPS app?

I currently have "GPS Cape Tow South Africa" installed. It is by "City Navigator Maps". It's a rather clunky android ported app. It is slow and jumps about a lot.

A company called "Golden Forge, Inc." recently uploaded a lot of maps.
They have more expensive maps, but I'm not sure if that means better.

Then I also see "World Offline Maps" and "PLACE STARS INC"

The built in Maps app is not a good use.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I'm using Mireo - Don't panic. Didn't have trouble with it. The gui is not really beautiful but ok. Prices are ok, too.
I don't know if they have maps for the whole word.

Thanks for the tip. I will try it out. When you purchase a map pack, is it fully offline (aside from the GPS part)?

Osmand. Once installed you download the map region you want. I used it for my playbook extensively. Haven't tried it for my z30 yet but have it installed.

    +1 for Miero

Used it last time I was out of the country because I don't use data when roaming. Downloaded the maps before I left and it worked great.

Mireo, once you download the maps (wifi or data and potentially large), is fully offline. The maps can be stored in Internal Memory or on the SD Card. The North America maps were about 2gigs and the Europe Maps were about 3-4 gigs. They were recently on sale but I don't know if that's still the case.

Question about Mireo. When I set a destination, can I set waypoints to alter the route to my preference?

I set my destination. Add way points (seems you have to start st the end and work back to your home for it). I save to favourites. Close app and reload the route. And it circles around my home.

    Am I doing anything wrong?

Today upgraded my z10 to 10.2.1.1925, downloaded be on road android app and it installed nicely. Next downloaded some offline maps, will try it in an hour. Warning, the downloads will take a lot or time, so be prepared.

Osmand is by far the best map app with offline maps. has a walking and biking feature as well as driving. spoken directions and just runs very smooth on both BB10 and the playbook.

I love Mireo, I was fortunate enough to purchase the maps for North America and the rest of Europe half price in the recent sale. I use it extensively when travelling in my motorhome and it's been very reliable.

Do you use Mireo with a Z10? Are you running any of the last few leaks? The Bluetooth doesn't work anymore for Mireo on my Z10. Blackberry Maps still works with Bluetooth, so it must be the app or the leak.

Agreed. The Southern Africa map pack foe me costs $29.99 I think. The most expensive I found there. But worth it for this brilliant app I believe. The native app just is not that good or easy to use

I am using a Z10 but I am not running a leak, I have 10.2.0.429. Perhaps something has changed in the Leak and BlackBerry has updated the mapping accordingly, however you would not expect a third-party app to be fully compatible without prior testing.

Osmand is free but Android and allows 3 region maps. Pay for more Provinces and states.
Mireo seems to be awesome from all the feedback. Native.

+1 for Osmand, I am using it currently with the 10 free maps in Morocco and Europe on a z10.

The historical and accommodation overlays are invaluble.

    Cheers
