Lately I have been saving a lot of sites as icons because they operate as fluid as an app.

Google has been very clever to put all their attention in the mobile Web pages, services like Gmail, Docs, Calender etc operate like you would expect an app would function.

And I think having a super responsive browser helps fix this so called app gap.

I've actually deleted a few apps because they're identical to their apps.

I didn't see the advantage of have the app.
