    Hi there,

I'd like to introduce a tool I designed for BB10 to make use of the Paris bike sharing scheme "Vélib' Métropole". There used to be a native app for BB10 but it was discontinued when the provider for the scheme changed in 2017.

First, let's make clear that this is a web app (i.e. a web page) and not a native BB10 app. It is optimized for mobile and especially for BlackBerry OS 10 though. The color scheme matches BB10's and the JavaScript limits itself to BB10's native browser support. It also has all the features the former app had and more (see below). Once the web app is added to the Home Screen it appears pretty much like a native app.
I am a front-end developer and do not master the BB10 SDK. I developed this tool for myself but thought it could be useful for the Paris BB10 community (if such a thing exists). The main advantage of using a web app is that it makes it also available on desktop or other smartphones.

    Try it here : https://heraud.co/app/velib

The app is in French but there is not much text, so I guess anybody could use it. The app is free of course.

    Features

    • Location of all the bike stations plotted on a map
    • Quantity of mechanical bikes available
    • Quantity of electric bikes available
    • Quantity of parking slot available
    • History of usage for every station. Up to 48 hrs. (exclusive feature of this app !)
    • Geolocation of your phone on the map
    • Easter egg! (more on that maybe later)

How to install on the Home Screen

    1. Point BB10's browser to : https://heraud.co/app/velib
    2. Tap on the 3 dots on the lower right corner
    3. Select "add to Home Screen"
    4. Tap "Save"

    Disclaimer

I do not own the data displayed. It is owned by Vélib' Métropole.
The map uses the Leaflet library with HERE Maps tiles.

This is a nice idea. I see some possible extendabilty while staying agnostic to different platforms thats great.

Some of the webkits api's are tricky or not well documented today, the repo I've linked has been a good resource for me, if their is a translation issue please let me know.
