Thinking of switching from Android to BlackBerry 10? Here's what you need to know | CrackBerry.com
In the video above, Kevin says that Songza is working on a native app? Is this true?
Out of curiousity, is there something wrong with the current Songza app besides that it is an "android app"? Would a "native" app add additional functionality?
other than "fix" the UI (having the options drop down from the top and not a bottome bar that you can pin/unpin) I think not.
Though I'd love to see a Native build just for the heck of it
I seem to be having issues with Songza only playing about 2 minutes of each song and then moving onto the next one...
Without my BBM Music I'm lost. I was extremely excited to hear Songza was coming to BB10, but if I can't listen to an entire song then it's just not for me.
I was hoping a native app would address this issue, and make the UI more fluid.
Has anyone else witnessed the problem with songs playing a portion of the way through??
I ALWAYS listen to Kevin. If he started a religion, well you could consider me saved!
Doubt they'll be making a native app unless there's SIGNIFICANT usage...
On my Z10, Songza will crash after sometime, and mess up any other app I try to run in Android Player until I reboot the phone. The native app will hopefully be more stable.
Does anyone else have the Songza issue where every song change triggers the LED and a hub notification that stays until the app is closed?
Yep, that's another issue with it - it triggers a notification every time a new song is played, and if I try to read the notification in the Hub, it'll just resend it moments later.
Native apps are better optimised for the OS - why should we settle for what is essentially emulation?
Would native app allow "Playon"?

So if I started a religion, what would we call it??

In theory, native apps would allow 'playon'.
As for your religion Kevin, I need to think about that... *dons thinking cap*

I think the biggest issue with Android apps on top of BB10 is they are not as stable and more prone to freezing, lag, or overall "buggy" feel to them. Not to mention menus, navigation differ from BB 10 and the apps don't integrate as well into the whole BB10 experience. BlackBerry plans to update (eventually) the Android runtime to Jelly Bean (4.2 from 2.3) which should improve overall performance. Hopefully it will come to a point where apps run well enough that most users won't tell the difference.
The CBC Music app (also an Android port, according to the "About" screen in the app) also posts to the Hub each time you change channels. So annoying.
I just heard back from Songza, and they are working on fixing the notification issue but no timeline right now.
Simple: the Word of Michaluk. Or WoM for short. And we have to wear orange robes! I'll take mine in a large!

Hopefully, we'll lose the Android runtime eventually. I didn't pay full price for an emulator.
Crackwhoreism? That could work!
I have noticed that after it plays a full list it closes never to be opened again. Had to do a reboot to get it working again

Songza app seems very unstable for me. Constantly crashes, sometimes with error message. Anyone getting this? Hope a native or just updated app comes out soon. Sent an email to songza about my error so will see what they say.

Yep, I got that quite a number of times, so I've stopped using it until they develop a native version.
