If you have Cobalt's Google Play Services v9 installed and this doesn't work, then you are out of luck. BB10 has a lot of limitations.

Better to learn yourself as you will have to whitelist the unpatched app yourself anyway.

    It's so simple.
Update new cobalt whitelist and play services.
Download ola app from Google play store.
    Don't install it.
Open Google whitelist add package of ola app before patching.
Copy the apk file to a system and patch it using cobalt patcher normally.
Copy the patched apk file to mobile.
    Install the patched apk.
    Tats all

It's not that simple. You need to have all of the cobalt updates from yesterday, and whitelist the unpatched app with v1.0.0.6 of the whitelist app.

    DTEK60 / Z30
Hi, I was looking this over because I have a few misbehaving apps. I have heard of Cobalt from people mentioning it in other posts. But I don't know what it can and can't do. At 1st I thought it was just a combination of a site that has the APK files plus some kind of app that helps you get the different android apps to work ok. But your saying "all the Cobalt updates" already sounds like it's more complex than updating a single app. The whitelist app added to my confusion since I've never heard of it.

Normally I ignore all of the mainstream apps since I don't game anymore and I have zero interest in social media. I also have already run into the android app issue where the app will only run if you allow it all of the ridiculously intrusive permissions. I had hoped that the new DTEK protection would counteract some of these but on my wife's cell I still see most apps want to access her contacts and call log. So much for the big improvement in security and privacy! BlackBerry may have made the device less prone to actual hacking of the system but I see zero privacy exists with any android device. What I wanted to know is if I installed Cobalt so I could use a few apps that aren't available for BB10 OS, like the DirecTV app, is there ANY way to run the app and prevent it from looking at my contacts?? Even though most people ignore it, HIPPA regulations mean that I would be in violation if I allow any patient data from my calendar or contacts to be given away. Plus I think it's very rude & sleazy behavior. None of them gave me permission to release their private and often unlisted numbers just so I can get an app!

I welcome any input! Thanks in advance!

You can prevent an app to access your contacts with Android 6, not with BB10.

I just saw that my post somehow was blank except for the signature! So what I WAS going to say is that you're incorrect. With the arrival of android 6.1 aka marshmallow, android users will FINALLY be able to block SOME of the invasive snooping from the various apps (that every BlackBerry I've had since the 9000 have been able to do!) but NONE of the data collection that Google does. Even then the large majority of android apps are written so that if the app isn't given all the permissions it wants the app will refuse to run or even open! And if you use ANY Google service the entire device (according to the "privacy" policy per Google) they scan every part of your device with the ability to not only read, but modify or delete any files.
So the android devices are still insecure, all of the security features that they brag about are just to prevent a total takeover, locking up for ransom or deletion caused by malware. But no longer even close to private...
